Pros

Nice colleagues but that was it.

Cons

- No appreciation for your efforts or your unpaid overtime work - Only real interest this company has is the money - Lack of transparency: major decisions regarding future plans are announced by emails in a sentence with no further explanations - Overworked people that won't do what their job is supposed to - Only way of getting things done is to chase people - No upper support when it comes about team/project improvements unless it has a massive financial impact - Inappropriate comments from board members towards dark skinned employees - Lots of gossiping - No personal development plans - No training opportunities (for development) - Stuck by having to deal with old projects that were created in a horrible way ages ago - Expensive parking - High interest expressed on how the company looks on Glassdoor but not as to why people are unhappy Advice to people thinking about going to an interview at Castleton: If you want to work in a professional environment, learning new technologies, wanting to develop new skills, this is definitely NOT the place. Few workplaces are worst than this one. Save yourself the time and trouble and avoid disappointment.

Pros

The queue at the exit door contained some gifted people who I respect a lot Software services showed a genuine improvement in organisation and mobility

Cons

One thing they'll be very keen to tell you during the interview stage is that there is a significant amount of travel involved. What they won't tell you is that travel is unpaid and is to be performed out of working hours only. Enjoy those evenings driving high and wide across the UK with no additional pay. Expenses don't cover lunch or tolls, you'll have to take the longer route home after a busy day if you don't want to pay out of your own money. You are contractually required to opt out of your right to the working time regulation, so if you get home from a customer at 2am, you still start work at 9! Enjoy your first day at Castleton where you will notice the jaded and utterly defeated people who are greasing the cogs. Don't worry about not fitting in, you'll feel this way too by the end of your first week. The driving force of the company is to sell, with little care for anything after-sale. Don't take my word for this, if you get the job you'll get to experience customer attitude soon enough. There's a massive bullying culture here, mainly that comes from the directors. Only friends of the directors get meaningful promotions, they are aggressive and rude to the majority of staff, and attempt to control things in a disruptive way. Managers come and go from this place in a matter of a few weeks or maybe a month or two. Appears that behaviour from the higher-end of the hierarchy make it uncomfortable enough for them to want to move elsewhere PDQ.

Pros

A few good people still left. Progression is possible. Free tea, coffee, and fruit.

Cons

Promises are almost never kept. You are reminded about being 'just a number' by how yourself and others are treated (disposable). Workloads are ridiculous. A stream of people and knowledge leaving the place for the past year. Progression is possible but stifled by workloads along with no free time. Knee-jerk reactions to situations are obvious.
