Pros

Great Training, company puts a lot of responsibility on the site supervisor. Great first time job to learn how to manage, delegate, and lead.

Cons

Pay is not reflective of responsibility. Some times the company puts too many requirements for the supervisors, making it difficult to complete everything all at once.

Pros

Benefits, Schedule, and working with children!

Cons

Too many to count. Micromanaged to the point of not being able to be creative. Stressed always. Always short staffed. Management doesn't like to step into classrooms even if classroom is out of ratio (that's their job)Oh and Forget about making your own decisions. Forget about going to your break on time....that will only happen when the school has enough staff. Management has to approve all of your decisions. Management needs to be trained on how to be effective leaders and let Teachers make decisions. Management thinks they're better smarter and above you when they clearly NOT. They'll embarrass you at the drop of a hat and expect you to put up with it. They don't take any responsibility for their mistakes. Teachers are blamed for everything that goes wrong! Working off of the clock is expected. Toxic work environment. Run for the Hills!!!!!!!

Pros

Was employed through the pandemic. Flexibility around doctors appointments and family priorities. There are some very passionate and committed individuals who for Catalyst that keep their programs alive.

Cons

There is little support for staff and center managers from corporate, and I'm not referring to compensation or staffing support. Rarely does Catalyst Family invest its resources in programs and systems to support center staff. Upper management is overall ineffective, aside from focusing on minor details that do not serve the mission of the organization. Instead of appreciating, supporting and authentically connecting with staff members, leaders often use and abuse those who do the most work. No one ever speaks up because of the unspoken fear of the wrath and retaliation from the executive leaders of the organization. When bringing things to HR and the employee relations team, they spend the time listening but no positive actions result. More often than not, speaking up leads to being watched. The weight of crotchety privilege burdens this organization, its employees and the families they serve.

Our passion for families, children, and our communities is what drives us, so we appreciate you acknowledging that. We are sorry to hear that your feelings that leadership is not supportive of staff, as many others have shared their appreciation for the hard work and dedication many leaders, managers and teachers have provided to the organization during a challenging time. We are and will continue to listen to our staff and encourage and support them in the important work that they do.
