62% positive business outlook
Pros
Great management that cares about growing the game and it's employees at the same time.
Cons
Nothing comes to my mind
Pros
Fully remote, time off isn't really questioned, and you can work whenever you want (as long as you fulfill your duties).
Cons
Management is disorganized, and low-level managers have no actual power that they're willing to use. My manager specifically would often say one thing and do a complete other thing. Pay raises do NOT even keep up with inflation, and there is little to no opportunity for advancement.
Pros
Fully remote, flexible working hours, chess first culture
Cons
Executives are junior with management decisions
Pros
I don't think I can find the words to express how happy I am here. I thought it would be a dream come true, and THEN IT WAS. Management is exceptionally kind, compassionate, and understanding. Can't imagine being elsewhere.
Cons
Because I'm a part-time employee, I'm making $15 an hour currently. It's actively less than what I was getting paid in other social media jobs in my past, but from what I understand, $15/hr is the standard for interns and part-time employees. Subject to change, of course.
Pros
Awesome culture, employee, management, everything.
Cons
none, greatest company on the planet
Pros
Fully Remote, and if you enjoy chess, there aren't many other options to make a real living in the industry. If you don't feel secondhand embarrassment easily, and enjoy bad rap and pop music, you'll find plenty of opportunities to watch tech industry cliches unfold in real time.
Cons
Make sure to modify the Glassdoor filters to see all the reviews, as many are hidden by default. * You'll see the culture of the company self-described as "family like" and "non-corporate," which anyone with experience knows describes an unprofessional environment. From lack of accountability, juvenile behavior, cliques and poor management, to "leadership" acting like their actions are beyond reproach. * The company does not care about its users apart from their value as targets for SEO and advertising. Dark patterns are common, especially in the billing process. They amplify controversy to disturbing levels to help drive engagement, while acting like the moral arbiters of chess. * The CTO is insecure and lacks technical depth, which manifests in all the predictable ways and has created a cult of personality where sycophants have learned to survive by reflecting the CTO's desired emotional state back at him. * Communication is chaotic. Meetings devolve into people talking over each other, more interested in hearing themselves speak than actually solving anything. * The stack is antiquated and filled with a significant amount of technical debt, with no leadership or vision to move the product to a manageable state. Also the platform is constantly criticized publicly by chess players and the tech community at large (see "The Real 100x Dev" for an example).
Pros
* Exceptional work culture that promotes employee development * High degree of ownership and autonomy in project delivery * Flexible work arrangements (remote work) * Supportive management that genuinely invests in employee skills Cutting-edge technology stack and challenging technical problems * Strong emphasis on learning and professional growth * Collaborative and passionate team environment * Competitive compensation and benefits * Unique workplace centered around chess and tech innovation
Cons
* Fast-paced environment can be intense for some * Occasional tight project deadlines * Might require continuous learning to keep up with technology shifts * Limited physical office interactions due to remote work model
Pros
Remote. Friendly. Supportive. Flexible Hours. Good Management.
Cons
Exposure to Inappropriate Content. Sometimes Abusive Users.
Pros
Friendly coworkers, good benefits, annual trip is nice.
Cons
Slow turn around time, management is unsure of what they want and will change course randomly, there's a lack of communication from topdown, sneaky internal politics at play.
Pros
The pay is good, it's full of smart people, super flexible, and a good culture all year round
Cons
No much benefits apart from the salary
