Dinosaur of a company now.

Pros

Some very competent people, not flashy, can learn a lot as I did working in software product development. Had a very strong technology and product suite in the 90s. Lots of strong experienced people with incredibly long tenures makes for product stability.

Cons

Products are now ancient. Company is milking old technologies and completely unsuited for the oncoming new technology trends and in every sense of the word a dinosaur. The management keeps getting reshuffled constantly without being held accountable for their performance. It is a privately held company, and has been run by one person since inception.

Pros

- Cincom appreciates that smart people don't need to be micromanaged - Cincom is open to flexible work schedules, including, part-time and telecommute options - Cincom offers reasonable, competitive pay (for the area) - Cincom medical benefits are typical and competitive - Cincom has a beautiful world headquarters building in Cincinnati, OH

Cons

- Cincom is a family-dominated company. As such, unqualified people often hold top positions. Nepotism, in my opinion, has contributed to the steady decline of the company. Employees are constantly reminded (by leadership) of the bleak future of the business. This undermines productivity and employee satisfaction. Plus, some employees (mainly the actual producers) are forced to endure a reduced work week (and pay) in order to avoid job loss. Morale is low and has been for a long time.

Pros

Low stress, friendly atmosphere, people that are passionate about customer and product, many employees with 20+ years experience at company

Cons

See above. While all of that equates to enjoyable work atmosphere, the pace of innovation is painfully slow, clients are very niche-oriented. No new products introduced in 10+ years, just upgrades to existing with minimal added value to clients. Not a sustainable path, not a long term viable business. Management team and most senior members are essentially riding out the shrinking cash flow current into retirement.
