Pros

None yet for cineworld. Our management whonhave transferred over is solid. Those that work in the trenches and deal with the absurd requests of our new corporate overlords are hard working smart individuals. The CEOs of cineworld however need A LOT of help.

Cons

Removing policies put in place by our former owners and adding nonsense such as zero signage in the lobby marking customer service locations and information to run the crowds smoothly. Not allowed to have ORGANIZED concession lines with tensile barriers. Film marketing material or tensile ropes of any kind are like the devil to these people. Basically allowing chaos to reign in the lobbies of our regal cinemas all because they think an organized line looks bad in comparison to customers lining up in ONE GIANT LINE and ignoring our staff who remind them to form more than a single lie who then complain to management bc it’s taking so long. Deep cleaning and wasting man power and energy on nonsensical things like office door hinges. Kick plates. Dust in non cusntomer related locations and not allowing any counter space to be used for any reason in customer service area. We have reverted to the dark ages of business operation. Completely unannounced corporate visits threatening long standing employees bc we don’t match with cineworlds nonsensical standards. Terrible befits for anyone not a fulltime senior manager. Part time managers might as well be high school students in their eyes we share the exact same benefits as a regular employee yet deal with more.

Pros

Free films, discount, good staff to work alongside (at my particular site) Different aspects to different ops manager roles so days are quite varied. Career opportunities if you're willing to relocate. Lots of different areas and skills you can learn.

Cons

Shift work - sometimes until 2/3am at my site. Head office communication is pretty awful, and they can make it difficult to get the ball rolling on simple things. Lack of support when trying to reward staff - one of the worst aspects was being told we had to recruit new staff then being reduced to minimum hours week. This was awful as team members assume this comes from site management and not HO. During a visit from a regional manager a folder was physically thrown across a desk in my direction - in front of team members. Then during a presentation we were asked to prepare he sat on his phone. This first meeting is what has meant I no longer have any interest in pursuing a career with cineworld. Anything for profit type company. Setting targets for us to raise money for charity - surely a good thing? The targets are high and we are constantly put under pressure to meet this as well as our company targets. I agree with raising money but not the pressure we are under and the feeling we will be punished if we do not reach it.
