Pros

Interestingly, if you look through the good reviews, they're almost all from teachers. I cannot fathom employees having anything good to say about the company when they're not contractors / teachers, and instead work in the office with the management team. This company does a good job at branding itself to attract talent, but has 0 ability offer any learning opportunity close to what it claims in the job descriptions

Cons

Many complaints on this front both in a corporate setting and on a moral level. Overall - toxic working environment, terrible pay, and no learning. 1. No benefits offered - no medical, 401k, dental, nothing offered. You'll have to pay for all of that on your own. 2. Incompetent management: no vision, ambiguous targets; the CEO clearly does not know what she is doing which leads to inefficiency 3. Way below industry salary - yes compensation is peanuts, no upside, no raises. Imagine living in NYC on a $2 - 5k/month pre-tax salary 4. VISA - this company advertises itself on VISA sponsorship, and usually that's how they lure people in with ridiculously low salary. However, they are ruthless to fire when the CEO wants to. There is no job security ironically. 5. Internships - all unpaid, no stipends for commute or anything, they're treated like dogs and lured in by the brand image of a "tech startup", while all they do is admin stuff with next to no learning for months. They're also sold on H1B sponsorship to work in an unpaid setting.

Disorganized! Bad Curriculum!

Pros

The students are fun to teach. You set your own schedule. It is easy to ask for time off. It pays $15 an hour once a month and the payroll is on time.

Cons

Once you are hired and sign a contract, the line of communication with your supervisors pretty much stops. No answers to the questions you email or send in the messages. Many times I will see teachers send a message asking the supervisor to please respond to their emails. You will get contacted if they think you missed a class or ended a class too soon. Some teachers never see students assigned to them after they are hired. The curriculum is SO BAD! It is pretty much powerpoints of children's books they have scanned. A lot of times pages will be missing from the story, or the text is too blurry/small to read. The phonics lessons are a joke.

Thank you so much for your dedications at Classover. We are very sorry for the untimely replies and we have been actively taking actions to better our management. Under the COVID condition, things are taking slower than usual and we are sorry for your inconvenience! We definitely have copyright over the teaching materials we are using. Our curriculum team has been making an all-out effort to meet the growing demands of new teaching materials resulted from our rising number of customers, but inevitably, some 1% of typos or other minor mistakes could be made. We are aware of these issues, and we have been working with our teacher communities to resolve these mistakes, and trying our best to improve the quality of our teaching materials. If you still have question, feel free to email hello@classover.com. Thank you again for the feedback!

Pros

If you're truly desperate to find a job and need to address your work visa situation, this could be your last resort. However, be aware that the boss may terminate your employment at any time without any valid reason. Both hiring and firing decisions are solely at her discretion and can be made impulsively.

Cons

In addition to the lack of any benefits, extremely low pay with the heavy workload, and no room for growth like other people says, the most toxic aspect of this company is the CEO's tacit approval or even support of office politics, which results in a highly unfriendly environment both among colleagues and behind the scenes. Besides dealing with a significant workload, there is also a substantial amount of time that needs to be devoted to handling office politics. If you are not adept at navigating office politics, I strongly advise you to carefully consider joining this company.
