Pros

+ Product actually has the potential to improve learning for a generation of children + There are some very friendly people to work with + Free snacks and food in the kitchen + Flexible start and end times + Possibility of being promoted + Small company which allows you to have a lot of mobility within your job description + Remote work is allowed for some employees + Working from home is allowed for a lot of employees + Paternity and maternity leave + Group health plan with 80% coverage on most things, 50,000 life insurance + 10 days of vacation, 8 days for December holidays, statutory holidays, sick days, snow days

Cons

- Some of the management doesn't want to hear about employee issues, and has turned the blame on the employee seeking help; there is no dedicated HR representative. - Employees are always in meetings, and there are rarely agendas at the start or actionable items at the end - Promotions from within before the employees have shown they can manage/lead, which has some of the management lacking management qualities - Deadlines are always too short because promises are made to external sources before consulting with the development team - Office politics - Not a lot of transparency between management and other employees

I appreciate your candour in outlining some of the challenges you see with working at Clockwork Fox as well. First and foremost, I would like to welcome you to speak with me directly about any of these challenges. We strive for openness and transparency in everything that we do. In fact, as you know, we are going through a series of focus groups that involve everyone in the company in developing key company strategies to take advantage of our company’s many opportunities and address some of our challenges right now. This is an opportunity for you to bring forth any issues that you see, and develop a plan to address them as a group. While we do not have a dedicated HR person, I would like to point out that we do have two HR representatives in the company, and you should feel free to consult with either one of them on any issues you would like to bring forth. We have identified that the efficiency of our meetings can be improved and have implemented new standards for meetings in the past couple of weeks. I hope that you will see an improvement in those as a result. I should point out that we do not have any external forces imposing deadlines on us, nor do we make promises on product delivery without internal consultations. Our deadlines are driven almost entirely by the market itself. Indeed, these deadlines are often challenging, but this is the nature of working in an ed-tech startup and, really, working in startup or tech companies in general. I would like to offer you the opportunity to speak about any and all of the issues you have raised with me personally. If you would prefer to speak with someone else, anyone else on the leads team would be happy to have a discussion with you as well.

Pros

- Values input from every member of the team - Supportive, collaborative environment - Autonomy, and independence in your workday - Intellectually and creatively stimulating work - Really nice office perks: flexible start times, a stocked kitchen, professional development time - Very open management: scheduled one-on-one check-ins to evaluate your well-being and work load - a constantly evolving workflow from a dedicated group of people - a really high quality product we're all proud of - a fairly introverted office: quiet, calm working conditions

Cons

- mostly working in front of a computer - being a product-oriented company means there is often overtime close to deadlines - being a small company working on a big project means you often wear lots of hats and can get spread thin across several projects - a fairly introverted office: a little too quiet :p

Cons

- Terrible management. - Unexperience leads (just fresh from college) - Very bad office locations - Repetitive and monotonous job - Project managers spent 80% of time on Amazon, Steam, Youtube, chatting, etc. - Profesionally speaking, a waste of your time.

Thank you for your feedback. First, thank you for the positive review of our product. I think everyone in the company is pretty excited about our latest release. As for our managers and leadership, we are certainly always looking to improve. We faced some challenges in production over the last year, but we’ve focused from learning from every one of them, and are confident that our processes are improving every day. We have indeed been very fortunate to have tremendous backing from our government partners, though we have also recently seen a very sizeable private investment, and are tremendously excited to see some strong market traction develop recently. Again, thank you for taking the time to write this review, and I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavours.
