Pros
Overview I worked at this company for five years. It was clear from the beginning that the entire company revolved around one product. Any attempts to expand the product line were not taken seriously. The management lacked a strong vision and struggled to execute plans effectively. This created a workplace culture influenced by politics and secretive management practices. Projects were often initiated but prematurely discontinued, creating an environment where efforts seemed futile and directionless. This contributed to a workplace culture heavily influenced by politics, with secretive management practices that lacked transparency. The lack of proper communication and vision resulted in people having to work around the management. There was a lot of guessing work due to management's short and improper communication. The lack of a clear leadership vision created insecurity among the employees. Many were worried about the stability of their jobs. This insecurity led to intense internal lobbying for tasks. Lately, they have been keeping people hanging to keep them until they sold the company. They ignored feedback. I have had straightforward experience developing the same product in my career, so It was apparent what was wrong and why, but despite the detailed recommendations, no actions were taken. Years later, some of my suggestions did show up as ideas of others. I had a strong passion for my work when I first joined the company, but the lack of vision and proper management gradually eroded it. I invested a lot of my time in various projects, often prioritizing my work over my personal life. However, things changed when they stopped hiring for Budapest several times and let me work in an under-resourced environment. For instance, I had to implement format support for multiple platforms in just one month, which meant I had to work tirelessly for weeks, sleeping in the office and sacrificing my personal life. Despite my efforts, it was not enough, and they were pushing me to wrap up and complete another project. I strongly believe the company should have fulfilled its promises to hire more coworkers to ensure we had the proper resources for product development. Unfortunately, they turned off hiring two or three times. Pros of Working at Codex They paid well and provided full remote positions before COVID-19 when it was rare. I ignored the non-compete agreement my previous employer one-sidedly forced me into by withholding my bonuses. The management of Codex did back me. I did appreciate it.
Cons
The company lacks a clear vision and strategy, resulting in products being neglected and becoming outdated. Some employees have been mistreated and terminated without justification. The company's focus on holding onto business opportunities without considering customer needs has hurt its reputation.
Pros
Cool tech stack and stuff
Cons
Micro management in a big way
