Pros
Almost everyone there was fun to be around. Very collaborative environment, anyone will drop what they're doing to answer a question or help you out. You can listen to music. People are supportive of you working at your own pace (within reason). People will encourage you to speak up if you feel you can't do something correctly.
Cons
The owner talks big game about safety, but a lot of rules re: safety equipment and use of forklifts get skirted. Lip service was also paid to work/life balance, but overtime was mandatory, and quickly became 16+ weeks in a row instead of the 6 or so weeks discussed in interview. There was nearly no communication about it other than "expect the worst," and shift end-times and whether we were working weekends just kinda filtered through the grapevine a few hours after lunchtime. All the managers were too busy to assign work, so most days I'd spend hours just sweeping the floor waiting for instruction, then have to stay hours after the scheduled end time so everything got done. Coworkers would get defensive about not needing help with projects so they could stay busy and avoid having to try to find a manager to get started on a different project because there was no reliable way to track them down. I got reprimanded for not having anything to do during the busy season after asking literally everyone on site for a project to start or help with - repeatedly. We'd often get blueprints in and find that we didn't have the required hardware to get the build started, so we had to wait for it to get ordered, or poach it from older exhibits in storage that were hopefully not going out soon. Nobody's keeping formal track of where exhibits are stored in the warehouse, you have to rely on somebody on site remembering. There are essential components that need metric-sized bolts but only imperial is kept in stock.
