Appalling management

Pros

Opportunity to work with experts depending on your project.

Cons

Irresponsible, incompetent and unfair leadership. The leaders in Asia Pacific, Indonesia, New Zealand and Singapore create a toxic culture rife in politics and favoritism that value only subservient employees. Promotions and career opportunities are reserved for the leaders’ cliques. Many dedicated employees including world recognized scientists and long serving staff have been sidelined. The organization prioritizes sales, high budget events and celebrity association over nature conservation. Higher management’s frequent flights and luxury hotel stays on work assignments and relocation expenses are questionable.

Pros

Lots of effort put genuinely into conserving the environment. There is ample opportunity to travel for work and to the U.S. Staff in America do get the opportunity to raise questions but be careful.

Cons

Operation staff are not treated well. Fundraising staff are seen as upper hand. Lack of structure and management favours a few people who make life difficult on the others. It is also very easy to lose your job as strategy changes all the time in an unstructured environment like conservation. The office in America is the headquarters. The next biggest is Asia and the Americas. Asia was not run well as the lead is CEO’s childhood friend. Nepotism at its finest. If u are not in fundraising, be prepared for less than professional treatment across Asia pacific offices from management.

Pros

Organization has a great mission and a small group of dedicated, talented & passionate individuals.

Cons

Toxic workplace culture in the Asia-Pacific office, led by the Chief and his cadre of women, allowed to misuse funds and side-step rules as they pleased. Bonuses and promotions were only for those game-players. No one really did any serious work. Those who did, and were willing to call out nonsense, were quickly removed under different guises. Never ever saw such terrible selfish leadership. In this degenerated environment, people land-grabbed and just took any opportunity they could to maximise their own gains, e.g. travelling the world, stocking up miles, etc... all using organization funds. A royal mess.
