Pros

Excellent work life balance. Flexible hours. Senior management is top notch and so are their sales and PR teams.

Cons

Cray's future is uncertain. They are losing their technological advantage and other companies are actively targeting and growing in the market space that they currently lead in. Tend to make the same mistakes over and over again without learning from them. Happiness will depend on which department you land in but overall it's a passive aggressive culture of scapegoating. I can think of more than a few incidents where I watched some of my most capable coworkers leave the company after having the blame for their bosses failures or lack of abilities fall on them.

Pros

Cray has a lot of very talented people. The engineers are willing to help one another. The company is forward looking and planning strategies for the future.

Cons

Cray has a serious management problem. There's a feeling of fear about sticking your neck out. New processes are continually rolled out by mid and upper management without an understanding of the work the groups need to accomplish. It is a very chaotic and political environment.

Pros

Great technology The company invests in R&D heavily Executive team is approacable

Cons

Cray has been growing significantly in the last few years, but the company business processes are obsolete and difficult to change. Perhaps this is because Cray has a lot of people with many years working in the company that want to keep things as is. Any new idea to improve a process or make a change is met with huge resistance, and at the end, very little is accomplished, many people, including those who resist change, would rather keep of fighting fires, rather than fixing the core issues. Additionally, the people at Cray have a very hard time making decisions, even small decisions are discussed by many people, and more are added after each meeting. Discussions take weeks and hundreds of emails.
