Can't blame any single person really...

Pros

Credit Sesame has some of the best souls employed and leading it. And really, lunch catered once a week or daily nerf wars don't matter as much as the people there. Credit Sesame could be moving into a land mine instead of expanding to an office in SF, and it still won't matter as much as the people. I don't know about the CEO Adrian, because I never had a chance to really sit down and talk with him. But there is a talented front-end developer with creative ideas. There are designers who work fast and confidently. There are managers who really care about allowing and instilling in themselves humble yet strong outlooks to thrive. There is a PM pouring out the lean cool-aid and teaching and learning everything with an ever-optimistic can-do spirit!

Cons

Not a single person I've gotten to know there really wants to be there. They're either waiting to see how long it can last, prolonging the job hunt until _______, or actively seeking other work. Working at Credit Sesame is like becoming a bird flapping your wings frantically, and finding there is no wind to support your flight. You have to do a lot of the work by yourself. Part of this culture is maintained by the twisted upper management dynamic. I don't know the full story of it, but it's not healthy. Sexist, ageist, and hostile attitudes run unchecked. It's not about encouraging big egos, but because they've been here before you. Good luck trying to change anything for the better. They've found methods that work in showing monetary growth (despite this, they are not profitable), and they will die before that mission changes.

Pros

Close to Castro and tons of restaurants. New office in SF. Flexibility to work from home occasionally.

Cons

No growth strategies. Flying by the seat of our pants, hoping for a miracle. Testing/optimization is a joke. Lots of tests like "new headline" or "color of button" which drive nothing but busy work. Employees were asked to submit positive Glassdoor reviews in order to counter an objective (albeit negative) review, instead of owning up to the very real issues that exist in the company. There is no desire for accountability. A lot is being spun to sound good and bad results are being buried.

Bad Experience

Pros

Some smart and fun people to work with having strong work ethics

Cons

Bad management and bad management strategies. There is no work life balance. It ranges from too much work (10-16 hours) to a reasonable 9-5 and then they want you back to burning the midnight oil. The expectations are very unreasonable. I would not suggest anyone to work with this company. There is a core group who is friendly among themselves and do not really care about others. They are loud and sometimes disrespectful of the rest of the work population. The place is too small. Authoritarian, unethical and deceitful management where it is their way or the highway. The Business does not have a good idea of the product. It is mostly a copy of what their biggest competitor is doing in the market. Did not really see much of a collaboration between Business and Engineering , their conversations are mostly filled with small talk and fluff.
