Pros

A slide that no one uses and free snacks to make you forget how overworked you are.

Cons

This company favors their engineers. Other folks who keep the company running smoothly (accounting, IT, admin, project coordinators) aren’t treated fairly, especially admin. DMC is hellbent on bringing in new engineers every year, yet, if accounting needs a new person, the request falls on deaf ears. It’s a constant fight for internal operations to get new people. There’s just not enough internal operations staff to handle the number of engineers in the company. On top of that, they don’t listen to the operations team. Plenty of folks have asked for helped or mentioned how they need more coverage on the team, and nothing changes. And when people leave because they're sick of the burnout DMC acts surprised. Do they take this as a chance to figure out how to retain their employees? Nope. Instead, they’ll delegate extra work to other folks on the team and admins to make up for lack of coverage. Clearly, everyone else is the problem, not the unhappy workers. Most of upper management do not respect the operations team, but admins get it the worse. Admins are made to feel the lowest of low on the totem pole. Because they work with all the offices and all of the departments, they’re knowledgeable about the ins and outs of things. But no one listens and will in fact go over their heads and reach out to managers to see if the admins know what they’re talking about. And though the team started out pretty robust with 3 admins, they’ve downsized over time not realizing it takes more than 1 or 2 people to assist nine offices, including a massive headquarters. Additionally, DMC prides itself on championing work/balance offering things like flex schedules and hybrid…unless you’re an admin. This wouldn’t have been an issue if they didn’t allow admins one work from home day only to take it away later. Keep in mind, admins are a team of 2-3, (maybe. They keep downsizing admin teams for whatever reason even though they assist with nine other offices) so work from home was possible and encouraged until one person decided to take it away just because they can even though admins expressed how much it improved their work ethic, their mental health, and their overall outlook on DMC. On top of this, you only get 5 measly sick days that they encourage you to use as "mental health days," which few want to do because you have to make these 5 days last for the entire year. And hope you don't get COVID because they'll make you use all your sick days to quarantine. There's no room for growth. They reel you in with promises of moving up in the company, but when you bring that up they wring their hands and act like you're crazy for even suggesting such a thing. It's a shame because there are some great, smart, helpful folks here. But what makes it so soul crushing is upper management and the CEO, who's out of touch with how businesses operate in this day and age. DMC really needs to learn how to value ALL of its employees. Engineers may be bringing in the money (if the projects are actually successful) but all the other departments help the engineers and the company in general to stay afloat. Unfortunately, DMC is very blatant when it comes to their favoritism. Even other engineers have noticed and spoken up. There’s high turnover no one is addressing, and non-engineers are made to feel like their work is not appreciated. Oh, but at least you get free snacks and a slide no one uses! That's supposed to make up for everything else right? So, if you want to work at a place that’s falling apart, where you’ll be overworked, underappreciated, underpaid, and unheard then this is the place for you.

Pros

* DMC truly cares about its employees. With regular meetings involving the entire company, constant encouragement to provide feedback, and a system in place to support you, you'll quickly figure out what's going on and be able to have a voice at the company. Most changes in the company are initiated by regular employees. * DMC offers an activity fund. Each month, every office gets a stipend to do whatever the office wants to do, as long as it's legal and everyone is invited. Escape rooms, movie nights, happy hours, fancy dinners, and even beer miles are all included. This helps build comradery in the office and is a great way to get close to your coworkers. * DMC does a great job hiring smart people. The bar is high, but you're surrounded by smart, caring people. You'll always be able to get help. * It's a fast-paced job. You'll likely be involved in multiple projects at the same time, so be ready to learn fast and be an expert in multiple industries. * Great opportunities for travel (see con).

Cons

* This is a consulting job. You will deal with clients directly, be heavily involved in the sales process, write proposals, take heat from clients when things don't go right, and you will travel onsite to clients' offices/factories/laboratories/facilities. This might be a good thing (see pro)! However, the balance between who goes onsite and who doesn't can sometimes seem unfair. Also, don't be surprised if you're required to live in a hotel for weeks to months at a time. You need to be ready and willing to put your life on hold for long periods of time, often working very long hours, weekends included. This type of schedule works very well for some, but it's important to know your limits. * The average tenure seems to be about 3 - 4 years. As much as management cares about their employees, sometimes it seems that they forgot how overwhelming onsite trips can be for recent college graduates. * In some locations, pay and benefits are below average.

Pros

DMC is a modern engineering company that revolves around work-life balance. The president has done a great job really being transparent about how the company is doing and also making sure are company values are being upheld. Everyone that works here is carefully hand picked and with good reason. DMC wants the best and they set high standards but also reward their employees with constant activities. The PTO is generous. It's truly a great company to work for all around.

Cons

Personal growth seems to be a bit of a challenge in this company. There is a big gap between upper management and employees that have been around for a year or two. It makes it difficult for the newer employees to develop as young leaders because the upper management is so busy juggling a million things.
