Pros

The staff and managers at DBRL are wonderful, everyone is friendly and always willing to help out. We are in the process of negotiating a union contract which will hopefully provide more protection for us. Benefits are good

Cons

The library director treats staff terribly, which is why the library has unionized (in addition to the equally terrible treatment from the hr manager). She often speaks in a condescending manner and reprimands staff to patrons. My manager provides some buffer but I know there are others that do not. There are times we have angry patrons, but that is to be expected with any public sector position. Very little opportunity for job promotion and pay is not great.
