Pros

Pros: You'll get paid on time and the salary is OK. The work that you'll be doing is not really difficult and the benefits are pretty good. If you're someone who is content with doing the bare minimum and just scraping by, you're going to love Merrill.

Cons

Cons: There is very little upward mobility, no raises or bonuses of any kind, and all of the employee compensation programs have been abandoned or discontinued. If you want a raise, you have to threaten to leave. If they like you enough, you'll get about a dollar or two raise an hour. They currently have no system to reward those who go above and beyond the minimum required, and there's nothing in place to correct the behavior of those who spend most of their day on Facebook or Reddit. Management is incredibly weak, will constantly lie to employees and keep them in the dark about what's going on, it's really a lot of smoke and mirrors. I averaged about one boss (direct supervisor) a year -- none of them any good, most of them have no management experience and it really shows. As far as the work is concerned, it's pretty much a call center, you'll be doing the same thing every day, and you're going to be tracking your time for every minute you're into the office. Sound like micromanagement? It IS micromanagement! There are constant and continuous updates to the workflow and the interface you'll be working on, so the moment you get a good grasp on how things work, everything gets changed on you and you have to sit through hours of training and tutorials just to get up to speed for that week. And a word on the "company culture" for those who are interested: a great number of employees at Merrill are deeply dissatisfied, and will constantly complain about the company and daydream about leaving. Management, Sales, and other groups will constantly thank you for everything you do, talking about how Service is the lifeblood of the company, but it never translates into compensation. At the same time, you'll see Sales conferences on yachts in London, penthouses in Hong Kong and fancy galas in New York City. It's a frustrating pattern and it's only getting worse. I wouldn't recommend Merrill to anyone I know.

Back stabbers and liars

Pros

Flexible work schedule was a nice feature.

Cons

Coworkers and management had a very passive aggressive stab-you-in-the-back style. I was routinely lied to, or lied about. Company was run by rumors and fear.
