22% positive business outlook
Pros
Good people and decent pay
Cons
Popcorn was too salty for me
Pros
Free movie tickets, great art, 401(k) match.
Cons
The pay is terrible, absolutely horrible. Executives use the philosophy (care for people - haha) to justify not paying well. The company barely chips in for health insurance benefits. Plan on picking the HMO - the PPO is outrageously expensive. If you disagree with the philosophy, or don't practice it, you'll get fired. They don't pay us overtime or let us take rest breaks. They refuse to pay hard-working, loyal, valuable employees barely above minimum wage. Nasty coffee. The office is literally falling apart, ceilings falling down, water leaking, rancid smells they can't get rid of. Everyone is quitting. I don't know how I've survived for years - it took me a while to realize just how bad it is b/c I believed in the philosophy at first (I'm looking for another job and so are many others). I've seen employee after employee come and go... the turnover is really high. Don't consider working here if you value independent thinking. If you're a sheep who can pretend the crap (good in theory but not alive) they spew makes sense, you'll survive. Otherwise, do yourself a favor, and find a company that actually takes care of employees and puts their money where their mouth is (pay, benefits, perks). Oh yeah, they slashed the mobile reimbursement but expect you to be available on your phone for texts and emails. I could go on and on... Trust me, this place sucks. It's super hierarchal, yet they claim to not like hierarchy. But when an executive speaks, no one is allowed to disagree or they'll get shut down. Then the execs will talk about that person endlessly, not "in community", but behind closed doors. The "Home Office" runs all sorts of different businesses - from a nursing home to dying, nasty movie theatres that have bed bugs in the seats! People always say it's a cult because of the sheep like mentality they are trying to achieve. But cults have leaders who are followed, while at Decurion, senior leadership has failed miserably and doesn't have followers. Worst.Job.Ever.
Pros
Friendly group of people to work with. Learned a lot of experience on different roles. Learned the latest technology. Great public speaking roles. Very informative management compared to other movie theaters. Always something to do for Lead roles.
Cons
The Boston Building was not finished and Everything seemed to be in prototype stage. Payed leaders minimum wage for positions that equate to manager responsibilities. pretend that their model of business is different from other generic movie theaters when in reality it was the same thing. Marketing team wasn't very competent. Mostly all the tech didn't work consistently. Covid19 Killed it.
Pros
Higher pay due to crazily high turn over After leaving the company, over-working/underpaid/ stressful environment etc were not even a problem. I just had an appreciation for working with normal people.
Cons
Known as a cult in the industry. The recruiter lied to me and my co-workers when we got the jobs. He called it a "unique culture" when other companies call it a cult. Philosophy professor (of the CEO) from college used to sit and lecture on weird philosophy. They have their own language which is literally funny. You will see people who try to keep the jobs there by acting like they love the philosophy and how it changed their life. lol (sounds like Amway? Amway is way more professional) I am revealing my hand hand column after going through ladder of inference. The company talks about "scaffolding" million times but they make you write apologetic essay for calling my co-worker a co-worker instead of a 'community member'. The essay had to be one full page A4. It was humiliating to sound like I am sorry when I am not. None of my co-workers who joined at the same time are there now, everyone, literally everyone left.
Pros
Like all previous reviewers said, this job is great if you're looking for the perks of watching movies for free, if you're not, then don't even bother. Employees are amazing people, which is why this gets a total of two stars.
Cons
The pay is absolute trash. Be prepared to be overworked for only $9. You will feel exhausted after each and every shift. Also, guests will always hinder you with an abundance of problems which will always be bad because they treat you like trash - as if you're just a minimum wage person. Managers also play huge favoritism. If you want to rank up, then you will have to kiss major butt.
Pros
The company's culture is fantastic. I don't think I've ever had as good of a working environment than when I was here. The pay was fair and Kevin was a fantastic leader and the department was a lot of fun to be in.
Cons
None that stand out. The hours could be a little long but the environment was so fun that I didn't mind it.
