Not a great career choice for experienced, knowledgeable professionals!

Pros

Friendly employees working in production. (those employees below management) Lowest paid employees seem to work the hardest and take pride in their work. (Line assemblers, machine operators, supervisors, a few managers in production)

Cons

If you are looking for a career at an organization that will appreciate your knowledge and experience and listen to your ideas..... this is not the place for you. Sr. Management penalizes anyone who does not conform to their ideas and way of thinking. CEO and CFO put their ideas and agendas before the good of the company. President is clueless to what is really going on in her company. Great employees are leaving or let go because they don't fall into compliance with the management team. It is more of a popularity contest then a professional organization based on skills. There are several managers who are in positions of authority, but have no business being in their positions. They are not popular among the employees, they are part of a "GROUP" within the organization that is protected by dysfunctional Sr. Managers. They have no clue how to treat people with respect, integrity and professionalism. You go places in the company only if they "LIKE' you. Unless you are part of the "GROUP" and if you are, you can treat people with disrespect and not worry about losing your job. They are not held accountable for their actions. The Berry family has turned a once revered company into a failure. They are struggling to come up with new ideas to stay competitive in the market. Relying on old products to continue their success. Failure after failure with new product lines. They do not have a strong team within the management group to stand up for their employees and make the company a great success. They are struggling with ideas, concepts and final stages of production because Sr. Managers and Directors don't have the skills needed for success. What was once a place where employees felt appreciated, and their ideas were actually taken serious, is now an organization of dysfunction, failure and dread. Same employee appreciation activities year after year after year. How many times can you have the same stuff without getting tired of it.

Pros

I have to write five words.

Cons

There is a reason why, when you pass Delta Systems off Frost Rd, that there are three agencies staffing them. Ryan, Alliance, and now, Kelly Services - Stow. They blow through people like water. I worked there for 5 days. In those five day, just in my area 10 were "terminated" or left. A Typical day at DS was a nightmare. Your first day you are showed one part, you are watched on how to do that one part then you are fully expected to reach their company quota within the first hour. You are given three breaks, two eight minute breaks and one 15 minute one. They gloat you get 31 minutes. Bathroom breaks are discouraged. You either hold it to the end of your shift, or either go on your break, or eat. You don't have time to do both. The regular employees make a game of the temp employees. They know you aren't going to get hired in ( temps only assemble) so they harass you relentlessly. My last day I was marked as a no call no show, when I was working my entire shift. When they found the sign in sheet. I was still fired. You can't miss any time here, not even 5 minutes. They have fired people for being pregnant for god sake. The team leads are control freaks. You are their slave for 8 hours and you better comply or your fired. The biggest complaint on here and Glassdoor is the drama. They make it seem like everything is life and death. I'm SO glad I broke as may parts as I did. This place was trash, your body doesn't get any time to rest from the super high production demands. Rest assured you'll never be good enough

Delta Systems Response
8y
Thank you for your review. We are sorry you have such a negative opinion of your time at Delta Systems. Delta Systems utilizes 3 staffing partners because in this job market it is difficult to find employees who are motivated to show up for work on time, put in an honest day’s effort and take responsibility for their own actions. Delta Systems has a thorough training program to ensure that our employees can produce quality products as demonstrated by our extremely low returned parts per million (RPPM) rate of 1, anything less than 100 RPPM is a world class quality standard. We fully expect that there will be a learning curve for all employees working in a new job. All employees are given time to get used to the job, learn the best practices for that position and become proficient. We understand that some jobs are not the best fit for some employees and take time to find the right fit for each person as long as they continue to be a willing worker trying to improve. The two 8 minute and 15-minute lunch breaks are paid so you work 7.5 hours and get paid for 8 vs. be at work for 8.5 hours and get paid for 8 at other employers. Bathroom breaks are permitted outside of break times. Delta Systems makes it a point to transition our best temporary workers to fulltime several times a year, we just hired 9 temporary employees as fulltime March 2018 and will continue to do so throughout the year. Delta Systems doesn’t use a “sign in sheet” for employee hours. We use a digital timecard system that keeps accurate records of when our employees clock in and out. You are required to be prepared for work each day you are here and that includes bringing your time card with you, not having your time card is considered an attendance infraction. We do understand that life happens and sometimes gets in the way of our employee’s regular responsibilities such as showing up for work on time. When this happens we only ask that you provide some valid proof as to the reason you were late. Showing up late without valid proof of a reason why is also considered an attendance infraction. Delta System’s policy during the 1st two weeks of an employee’s tenure is 0 attendance infractions. You’re starting a new job we want you to put your best foot forward, and showing up, being on time with your time card doesn’t seem like a lot to ask. I can assure you that Delta Systems has NEVER fired anyone for “being pregnant.” Actions such as that would-be discriminatory and illegal. Matter of fact, at any point in time there is at least 1 if not more than 1 Delta employee pregnant. To the contrary we celebrate our employees and their families not fire them for being pregnant. Delta Systems makes safety products for outdoor power equipment so YES, product quality is a priority here. By your own admission you broke several parts, obviously you were not a good fit for Delta Systems. Good luck in your future endeavors.

On a downward spiral...

Pros

Nice modern plant facility. They have spent money to build a nice building and offices, and some equipment. Unfortunately, it's all lipstick on a pig.

Cons

From an SBN Online article, dated 4/1/2011: When the CEO "came into Delta Systems Inc. as president and CEO, the company was in good shape." Now, unfortunately, it's in a downward spiral due to inept management with no insight or creativity to properly position the company for a changing times and to hold on to their existing business. The CEO, a family member by marriage, is not a leader, by any stretch of reason, but simply a listener to the 2 VPs that are actually in charge. And those 2 individuals are completely lacking an understanding of how to steer this company to capitalize on its potential. All of the intelligent managers and staff have left in disgust. In the same SBN Online article, the CEO states, " I was looking for those who were ready to work and help us grow to the next level.” In reality, those type of people were chased away in the engineering and technology areas of the company, leaving them without a vibrant competent staff. The CEO entrusts 2 people in the company, and they're not capable. The board must be blind.
