Pros

Denver Water has a storied history and commitment to providing safe drinking water to metro Denver. If you want experience, there are still great employees here you can learn from, who still have high integrity. Hopefully you will find them and make the best of things until you find a great place to work.

Cons

Denver Water has mutated into a faux corporation, with a “CEO” whose imprimatur is on a faulty pay-for-performance scheme that constrains employees to remain at or below the midpoint of their salary range. Technical expertise is devalued; unless you are a manager or at least a favored supervisor you are easily replaced and disrespected. The DW “values” are window dressing on a toxic environment that pits employees against each other, and cultivates ageism and sexism. Upper management is self-serving, and treats themselves like kings; transparency is nonexistent.

Pros

Secure job. Decent benefits, but diminishing as we speak. Mid-level pay for most people.

Cons

It's almost impossible to advance unless someone higher up takes an interest in you. Low turnover limits opportunity. Many people who are retiring are not being replaced. Abuses by management are overlooked. Morale is low.

Pros

It is an organization that provides good work life balance, has a pension plan, and is small enough that you get to work with people at all levels of the organization

Cons

Denver water makes it hard for employees to grow within the company because it is more about who you know and less about what you know. Also we are very top heavy within the organization that most decisions made are at the benefit of management
