So bad

Pros

State benefits. Decent healthcare. Coworkers are awesome.

Cons

This is a very toxic work environment. The work is stressful. The deadlines are impossible. Executive leadership has no idea how to lead people. It’s sad because this is the largest civil rights dept in the nation but cannot do anything to help Californians against civil rights violations because it is run so inefficiently and in dictator mode. Many complainants who are harmed do not get a proper resolution. Might as well get rid of this dept and save taxpayer money because it is a huge waste. More like a complaint factory designed to close cases rather than legitimately evaluate and resolve harms. What a joke.

Pros

Great mission, tough work. Pursuing justice on behalf of Californians discriminated, harassed or retaliated against as members of protected classes - sex, gender identity, disability, race/ethnicity, religion.

Cons

Difficult to deal with some customers, many with mental issues and limitations. But still an amazing place to contribute to a better California.
