Great company except in OKC

Pros

The company has a great leader and continues to have strong performance overall and significant growth. Benefits are great. Most of the people I worked with were great and I considered them friends. The company is still relatively young and there is a lot of excitement and entrepreneurial spirit.

Cons

The headquarters in Midland seemed like a good place to work, but I would avoid working in the OKC office if at all possible. The controller is petty and insecure, constantly blaming others and inexplicably turning against good employees in an attempt to get them to quit (I think?). It was depressing seeing the organization empower someone who was hurting the company and turning the OKC office into a miserable place to be employed. I really wanted to stay at Diamondback long term.

Great benefits, major issues in OKC office

Pros

Benefits - 100% paid insurance, stock options, bonuses

Cons

They will overwork you, micromanage you, talk down to you, never apologize, communicate in a very calculated, sneaky manner and they give totally unrealistic deadlines. It feels like even when you are on PTO you can’t relax or put your work away because they have zero disregard or respect for anyone being out of office. Management is really smart though. They are great at talking their way out of things and passing blame downward when speaking to the Midland execs. I hear the Midland office has a great culture, but OKC has been an unaddressed disaster for years. Also, it is totally a “be in your seat for xx hours because we’re watching you” culture. Completely behind the times in that regard, especially after over a year of being remote due to COVID.
