Pros

Interesting technology and a recognisable brand within the sector.

Cons

Lost the company founder. Slow reaction time to market, poor customer service and lack of effective leadership at all levels has resulted in many competitors gaining an advantage. Management has lost all credibility, it is unresponsive to feedback from employees which has contributed to creating a toxic work environment where everyone is scared of being fired and team morale is low. There is very little enablement or training. The company's organisational structure has lots of gaps which make communication flow disruptive and ineffective. In some teams, the toxic working environment has sparked a culture of bullying and harassment which is being ignored by HR and senior management. Benefits package and company pension are one of the worst in the industry. No transparency, No accountability.

Pros

Recruiting is great and, as others have remarked, first impressions are positive.

Cons

Despite promises of transparency, Docker hides the unpleasant reality of how it treats employees. Turnover is high,

Pros

Docker has shown me how an iconic company with an innovative founding product can be destroyed by terrible leadership, a lack of decision making, bad product decisions, not listening to customers, nepotism, and culture of fear. When I start my company, I won't make these mistakes, so I thank Docker for that.

Cons

In the last 12-months, there has been more firing and hiring than I have ever seen. There is so much turnover that nobody knows what they're doing. Managers are always changing. Some projects have too many cooks in the kitchen and infighting. Other projects are abandoned. The one product that was supposed to make money failed to attract customers and is now available for free. There isn't any new products on the horizon to generate revenue. The CEO is an apparition. There have been three All Hands meetings in the last year and he doesn't want to be in them. There's no transparency and a deeply embedded culture of fear. There isn't a word to describe the soul sucking environment and low morale.

Pros

Fantastic place for #metoo experience They could've sold to Microsoft two years ago and used some maturity. Catered lunch on some days (if you care) Containers used to be great (now the rest of the world have caught up). Swarm -- great product (Kubernetes pleased more techies)

Cons

Women have no voice, whatever is shared will be turned against you. No transparency, No accountability, Zero trust from managers and above. Products are dead. No innovation.

Growing pains are starting to show

Pros

Best co-workers ever. People are committed to our vision of making great products for developers. Overall competitive rewards package (although stock program becoming less compelling). Engaged CEO.

Cons

Docker prides itself on its internal transparency but lately the communication has been sub par. We recently lost several colleagues due to terminations and while I understand it's hard to communicate these decisions, these decision have left many of us unsettled. It's also renewal season so not sure if the growth in our revenue will continue to our expectations.

Pros

Docker is packed with highly engaged and talented people. There are a lot of challenges to solve and a lot of opportunities along the way. Transparency at the company is high.

Cons

The company is maturing, so naturally we experience pains along the way. Mistakes are being made, as one would expect, but lessons are being learned and I get a sense of leadership aiming for a bright future and open to learn from mistakes made along the way.

Pros

Nice colleagues and international teams.

Cons

No clear vision where the company wants to go. Targets, managers and people have been changing very frequently. 2 RIFs at least in Europe. No transparency and managers are not interested in their staff. Individual goals are unclear.

Pros

Widely used, interesting product Smart and knowledgeable co-workers Office setup allowance Monthly days off Budget for training/books

Cons

Toxic Culture: People are afraid of saying what they really think, no space for criticism unless you have a lot of clout and even then it needs to be delivered with utmost care. Some people are absolutely fake. Anything you say can and will be used against you. They will push you out if you're not up with the program. A lot virtue signalling, pointing out the correct use of pronouns but then do not care about you as a human being in any practical way. Even HR is just worried about looking cool; no real empathy there. Promotes Burnout: Lot's of conversations about mental health but then when colleagues that are obviously working more than 40 hours a week turn up great results, this is obscured as people just working flexible hours. Developer's Kingdom: There's no real emancipation of professionals other than developers. Everything revolves around developers and is only moved forward with their contributions. Madhouse: Too much happening at same time, too much talking taking place at the same time. No time to actually go deep into the work at hand. Every day feels like you should know more, do more, be more than you are. At some point you should be enough and be doing enough, because work is an just an part of time , and we're not machines. No transparency: the whole marketing team was gone in one week without explanation. Undeniably valuable members of teams were trying to find out if their job was safe over the following days.
