Pros

The best part of working at Dominion is the work from home aspect, and therefore little interaction with management and coworkers who like to think that they are important.

Cons

Too much company politics and favoritism. Seems the rules are made to be broken if you are in tight with management. After enduring 4-6 weeks of training, you will be thrown into a position totally unprepared. They spend 6 weeks training you to use a software than maybe 25% of their clients use. The rest use an older software from the company, and reps were expected to just figure it out. They insist that you do your “due diligence” to solve the user’s problem before asking for assistance, and will reprimand you if they think you asked for assistance without exhausting all of your resources first. I often felt bad for the users who simply wanted a solution but had to wait, sometimes days, while the rep researched old tickets and tested different scenarios. It’s frustrating for the rep too, having to make futile efforts knowing good and well that someone more senior clearly knows the answer to your problem, but the rep will be scolded if they ask for help. The corporate polices are set in stone. If you don’t have PTO available, they don’t give a crap about your personal circumstances. Illness, accident, hospitalization- it doesn’t matter. You are expected to be at work. Time off without pay is a big no no. No compassion, no mercy. The pay is pathetic for what they expect. My teen made more per hour working at a pizza place than I did. The only saving grace was not having to buy work clothes and not having the expense of a commute.

Pros

My coworkers are great as well as middle/upper management. There are so many talented and intelligent employees. Communication is great from the top and employees are fairly well informed about the direction of the company. The tech stack is pretty nice for a .NET shop.

Cons

The president comes from a sales background and does not seem qualified to run a software company. There are some really great employees that have been working for the company over 15 years who feel underappreciated and over worked. Most of the glory goes to the sales team while software engineers/architects are treated more like support staff. There are no legitimate annual salary based performance increases. This seems pretty important when inflation is at a four decade high. Everyone receives the same low percentage increase each year and this has been going on for decades. While this is better than not offering any increase, this is still not a positive in my opinion. Almost everyone is constantly trying to meet some tight deadline. The corporate mantra is literally "work faster" which is the perfect way to burn out your employees. A lot of contractors are being hired currently but it's a revolving door and employees are also constantly leaving.
