Pros

- Work from office and home. - Nice and down to earth coworkers. - Solid 401k plans - Health, Dental, and Vision are 100% covered by the company as of 1/2023. - It's great job if you're looking to get into a start up or start your career somewhere. - You don't need to request time off 2 weeks in advance. - Smart coworkers who can show you a thing or two.

Cons

- Office is loud and overcrowded, you can't think. In Marketing, you need silence to write and create. - Marketing department is basically spaghetti thrown against the wall. - No skills as Property Manager are transferable to this role except talking about your experience. - I was asked to do things in marketing that just felt scammy and disingenuous. - You don't actually write about your experiences in blogs. I did once and was immediately told to change everything about it. There are strict guidelines to follow, so just know that. - They want to be really involved in your social life outside of work, but are quick to cut you off once you leave the company. - They pride themselves in encouraging you to work independently. What that means is that the necessary support you need for your position does not exist. I was told multiples times, "don't let anybody get in your way". Code for you're basically on your own. - This community manager position is not for a seasoned property manager. You go from calling the shots in your corner office to being in the pit with everyone else. A regressive move with little support. - I come from the PM world, not tech. I needed help from a colleague to set up and use filming equipment, who was very resentful about it. - I was hired for my expertise in property management, not to be thrown into learning the ins and outs of how to use expensive film equipment. It was definitely an added stresser on top of an already unreasonable work load. #notmyjob - Employee conflicts are not addressed. If it does not fit into their narrative about positive work culture, it does not exist. - No PTO will be paid out upon leaving since you don't accumulate hours the traditional way. - A particular person in upper management is not very friendly, I was frequently and he has a reputation to be aggressive with people. They're not AS nice as they tout themselves to be. - It's like any work place with pros and cons. However, Doorloop does not believe in cons. It's like working in the Wizard of Oz, a little dystopian - everyone's always smiling and problems just don't exist. - Pay is pretty awful for this position. I was fortunate enough to not be paying rent when I accepted this job, so I could afford to accept the max they were offering (which is not a lot). -Location in Miami Beach is not central to nearly anybody. Getting to the beach adds 30+ mins to everyone's already long commute.

We are very sorry that your role at DoorLoop didn’t work out, and we took your feedback and comments very seriously. You were a highly valued member of the team, and we provided you with all the resources to help you succeed. This included monthly meetings with clearly laid out expectations, as well as funds to hire any freelancers as needed. First and foremost, we want to emphasize that our priority absolutely is to maintain a culture of independence and autonomy, free from micromanaging, where team members have the freedom to build out their own workflows and task management processes. This does not mean you should have felt that you didn’t have support; to the contrary, we’ve built a strong team to ensure collaboration. We were always available with an open-door to offer guidance, suggestions, advice and any funds or resources you would have requested, in order to make sure that goals are met. With that said, we understand that this level of freedom isn’t the perfect fit for everyone. The same goes for any issues with your co-workers. We place emphasis on building a team of like-minded individuals who work well together and are adept at conflict resolution and open lines of communication. We encourage everyone to first handle their issues amongst themselves. This goes hand-in-hand with our emphasis on autonomy and independence. If there is ever an issue that inhibits work from getting done, or makes someone feel unsafe or uncomfortable, we are quick to step in and help out. As for salaries, we pay above-market rates based on a candidate's experience and levels of expertise. We have a system in place to do extensive salary research to make sure of this. In addition to this research, we take candidates’ desired salary ranges–which we always ask for early in the interview process–into account in order to make a fair, motivating offer. If there’s ever an issue with salary, we encourage open discussion well in advance. With our Unlimited PTO policy, you only worked 61 days at DoorLoop and took over 2 weeks off, something that would likely not be acceptable anywhere else. As a fun startup company, we strive to create a positive working environment for everyone, giving back to our team in every way possible including great benefits, monthly classes, team outings, and much more. We wish we heard your comments in our surveys, or the weekly and monthly one-on-ones, so we could have an opportunity to address them, as we know this review does not accurately reflect the actual work environment, culture and growth for 99% of our team. If anyone ever has any concerns, we please ask that you speak to us openly, and we will do everything in our power to make you happy. We welcome an opportunity to discuss this further as our doors are always open to both current and former members of the DoorLoop family.

Pros

- Some team members are genuinely kind and try to do their best under challenging conditions. - If you are early in your career and want exposure to a struggling codebase, you may learn what not to do.

Cons

- Technical debt: The product was built without senior technical leadership, resulting in a fragile, outdated, and hard-to-maintain codebase. Significant effort is spent on refactoring legacy features, with little time allocated to meaningful innovation. - Misleading role: While marketed as a full-stack position, the vast majority of work involves frontend tasks, leaving little room for backend or architectural responsibilities. - Micro-management: Despite initial promises of autonomy, the culture is heavily micro-managed. Daily worklogs, frequent Slack interruptions, excessive meetings, and rigid QA/testing demands significantly slow productivity. - Work environment: The office is noisy, with loud music, and distractions are frequent. When raising legitimate concerns, some employees faced pushback or questionable performance critiques rather than support. - Management disconnect: Leadership is largely unresponsive to developer feedback. HR does not effectively advocate for employee well-being or fairness. - Compensation: Pay is below market average, which is surprising considering recent funding rounds.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We take it seriously and value open communication at DoorLoop. We remain dedicated to a respectful, supportive environment where every team member feels valued and empowered. DoorLoop has achieved product–market fit by moving fast as a lean startup. We're now in hypergrowth and are we’re scaling teams, processes, and systems while tackling the natural challenges of rapid expansion. Our Tech Org has grown by more than 100% from less than 40 to nearly 80 employees in the past year, and the whole DoorLoop team has grown nearly 50% from 150 to over 220 employees. We continue to invest in strong technical leadership, evolving our architecture toward microservices and autonomous squads, launching a new AI squad to drive cutting-edge innovation, bringing in leadership for our growing DevOps team, and building an infrastructure squad. Working at a fast-growing startup is not for everyone. While scaling brings challenges, it also creates immense opportunities for innovation and growth. We are actively hiring top talent to help us scale even faster, but need to make sure that have the right kind of people on our team who love and thrive in this environment. We make mistakes, but we are committed to learning, adjusting, and improving. If you want to reach out and discuss your experience in more detail, please feel free. While we are sorry that you are frustrated that we had to part ways, we wish you all the best in your future career.

Pros

Good business case, has potential - not billions, but millions. Overall friendly environment. Just got funded by some private equity or fund, so maybe most cons will go away. It's a startup - I don't blame them for the cons. You could call it growing pains.

Cons

CEO likes to code instead of CEO-ing. Codebase is relatively new but could be much more robust. No time for tech debt - just push features. Front & Backend are not terrible but could be better. Management skills - need to work on.
