Pros

Co-workers and students are nice

Cons

Low wages. No pay increases for next three years. Everyone gets same raise when they are given; normally between 1-2 %, and those are also the years they increase insurance premiums. Parking rates increase yearly. My take home pay goes down yearly. Morale is extremely low. Job titles don’t match job description so they can pay less. Feel extremely undervalued.

Pros

Very good benefits, nice break around the holidays, and loved interactions with students.

Cons

Staff is treated way differently than faculty. Jobs change by adding more work with little to no compensation or change in job title.

Pros

This position was rewarding and a good start for someone pursuing a career in law enforcement. I gained a vast array of experience and training. Had the ability to work with students and provide a safe learning environment. Over time the department made some minor improvements with equipment and vehicles. This position has low supervision with a high level of responsibility.

Cons

This University does not know how to manage money properly and is ran by socialist left swinging liberals. Every year the non-exempt employees are given budget excuses on why the pay won't increase. The rare occasions it did improve it was no more than 2%. Meanwhile, the university continues to build new buildings and invest in pointless landscaping projects. The health benefits are, and there is no incentive to stay for an extended period other than your children can go to college for free. This particular department also has experienced massive turnover over the years. The burden on the other employees to cover the shifts with minimum staffing is burning staff out quickly. It is common practice forcing employees into 12 hours shifts and overtime. The department suffers from low morale and most likely will never improve.
