Pros

- Company Culture: Everyone that works at Etekcity has a positive fun loving attitude. They are very welcoming and friendly to newcomers. The employees at Etekcity are like family. There are different events for team building and holiday celebrations as well. - Company Growth: Very fast. When I started there were only about 20 employees in the US office. However, when I left (due to career change) the company has more than doubled their staff and projects. - Career Growth: Growth in one's career is very fast working for this company, but only comes with hard work. Your word is valued in this company and ideas or feedback are taken into account always. You will not only grow in your craft, but other talents as well, due to the constant interaction and collaboration with other departments. - Management: Not only cares about the success of the company, but the enjoyment and happiness of the employees as well. Understanding and helpful with any problems or feedback. Works extremely hard to ensure the success of the company. - HR: Truly cares about the employees and their success and happiness. Fully dedicated to her job and improving others talents and skills to better the company and the employees. - Benefits: A full wide range of competitive benefits including 401(k) plan.

Cons

- Communication with Overseas: Communication with the different offices overseas is slightly difficult due to the fact that they work in a different time zone and the language barrier. However, it has improved greatly from what it used to be. At the end of the day their is always a level of understanding on both sides. - Workload and Deadlines: Sometimes the windows and deadlines for projects are not the most adequate to produce the absolute best product. Workload may sometimes become hectic. However, management is very understandable and can help alleviate some pressure.

Pros

There are lots of opportunity here if you are willing to try and learn. I started working at Etekcity as an intern and eventually moved to a part-time position. When I graduated from college, I was offered a full-time position. It wasn’t an easy, smooth and spoon-fed journey; I was challenged again and again, but for me, it was fun, and I went through it more for personal growth than anything else. I made lots of mistakes along the way, but quickly learned from them. I’ve seen the company grow, and even though it is not mine, it still makes me proud. The best part about working here is that my voice and hard work are recognized by my direct manager and supervisor. It’s just like Samuel Goldwyn said, “The harder I work, the luckier I get," and that is 100% true for me. My coworkers are friendly, fun, and weird. I can even considered them as friends. In addition, there are no politics here and I don’t have to kiss an A to move up. Through my experience, I believe the company and my coworkers value positive energy and attitude and teamwork. We love good vibes every Monday morning. There’s not a complaint about how awful the weekends have been (unless someone ask) nor how much they hate the world. We have coffee makers, tons of snacks and breakfast almost every Monday, ie. bagels, donuts, or pastries. Those are definitely a win for me because I never have to worry about working on an empty stomach. They also recently hired an awesome COO who used to work for HP, Kodak, & Razer and an official HR Manager that works hard to provide us with awesome health, dental, and vision benefits options! I feel like the company has a bright and challenging journey ahead of them, and I am so excited to contribute my talent to that journey.

Cons

In the past, there were lots of cons, like no benefits and pitiful salary offer, but moving forward, the only thing that I can think of right now is probably the small work space (desk) and rooms. We need more rooms and a studio space for the creative team. Their studio looks like a garage sale for photo and video equipments. Product development team also needs their own space as well.

Pros

Let me preface by saying that I did not want to leave Etekcity, but due to some life changes, I had to quit, at least temporarily. I wish I could still work there. I worked for Etekcity for well over 2 years and it has been one incredible journey. While working here, I've learned so much about how a business operates and the different functions of a company. We learn from each other and are allowed to experiment with different marketing strategies and concepts. Being a small-ish company, there is room to try on different hats and venture outside of your own job title. This leads to people eventually making changes in their career path. Career paths are also starting to be laid down so when you start, to know you can work towards higher positions as you learn and progress through the company. They also just implemented some crazy nice benefits (platinum-level). Everyone was super excited for the amount of benefits we were getting, I was super excited when they started giving us a bunch of free food and snacks. On top of that, they've always been super flexible with scheduling and work hours. I have had a lot of things going on in my life and I've never had to worry about how time off or strange schedule requests would affect my standing with the company. This company rewards action, at least for the marketing team. They understand that certain areas need room for experimentation and innovation in order to push forward. That's how we end up with award-winning products and super high-quality marketing materials. There's been some organizational changes recently that include new management positions and I am really excited to see how they can take Etekcity to the next level. The company has brought on and is bringing in really experienced industry professionals to keep them moving onward and upward. As a whole, the atmosphere is great and I always got the sense that we were one big team working toward the same goals. It's definitely a youthful and inclusive environment, with people taking time to go out together in the evenings or on the weekends. Also, a few people have had the opportunity to go work abroad in other Etekcity offices. I was able to spend a few months last summer traveling with Etekcity, meeting and working with international coworkers. Overall, Pros include: work environment/atmosphere, teammates, management, benefits, opportunities, food.

Cons

Although the new management is changing this, it is a very fast-paced environment and can be a sink-or-swim kind of situation. From my experience, people either leave quickly or stick around for quite a while. I attribute it to attitude and readiness. Be ready to work and learn quickly. I don't know if it has changed because there haven't been many new hires on the marketing team recently, but there wasn't much of an onboarding phase. You are expected to figure it out as you go. I think it just goes back to the type of person you are. For someone like me, I was able to take on the challenge and take everything in stride; some others just don't like that type of work environment. In the beginning, work hours were EXTREMELY flexible, it was possible to work a lot from home or stay until 5 or 6 in the morning. Recently, they’ve started to limit this flexibility. I like working late at night because it's easier to concentrate, but they're starting to only have the office open from 9-7 or 8. Overall, still really flexible for most people.
