Pros

Great team and some really lovely people, that really make the company. Salary and benefits are good and generous holiday allowance. Working hours ar until 5pm Mon-Thurs and until 4pm Fri.

Cons

There is an awful culture within this business to drive people out on their probationary period or within the employer safety zone of 2 years (so employee has no rights). Staff turnover is incredibly high. In 2018 the company managed 4 people out of 1 department alone for reasons beyond the employees control. They have the accolade of Investors in People but there is no support or training so development is impossible. Decisions by the Directors and management are made without any consultation of the departments or with much thought regarding employee satisfaction or productivity. The Directors themselves often disagree with one another which makes following instruction very difficult and blame is often pushed onto junior team members. Typical owner led business where HR appear to just be carrying out the dirty work of the Directors who need to step back. It's a real shame as the staff are passionate about their jobs and the company but there's no trust. As a result it breeds a blame culture. Directors are bullies who are 'never wrong'!

Pros

- Generous annual leave - Early finish on Friday’s - Good pay - Worked with some lovely collegues

Cons

Honestly it breaks my heart to see that other people have had the exact same experience at Ellisons that I have! Clearly they will never learn. I wish I had taken the negative things I had heard about Ellisons seriously before making the decision to join this awful company. As I, like many others, have left with poor mental health and knocked confidence which has taken ages to rebuild. Staff turnover is through the roof with almost everyone leaving a the marketing department in just over a year, many of the team not lasting more than a few months. Micromanagement is the standard and Bullying, humiliation and gaslighting from management happen on a regular basis. Me and my collegues were made to feel as if we didn’t have a voice, despite many of us being experts in our field we were unable to even make small decisions regarding our work, all had to go through (and were decided by and changed by) a bossy and egotistical CEO who had a real lack of understanding when it came to modern ways of working. Their values are almost a sick joke, as they are the complete opposite of what this company is. Detailed below… Passionate - We are dedicated to eachother. There is a culture of blame and fear that comes from directors. Such as the directors swearing, shouting and regularly talking over team members. There is no mutual respect, instead it is demanded of employees whilst they are treated with little regard. - I would say that’s definitley not dedication to eachother. Honest Management often blame their mistakes on subordinates, taking no accountability themselfes. Innovative There is absolutely nothing innovative about this place, it’s run by dinosaurs who are stuck in a time warp and unable to change and advance with the times. They are far behind competitors in their marketing, old fashioned in their processes and their website looks like it’s straight from the 1980s. But management still continue to believe the way they do things are best. Don’t come into this company thinking you can help them change with the times, they’ll just make you doubt yourself. Ethical Honestly, the word ethical and Ellisons shouldn’t even be used in the same sentence. There is nothing ethical about the way this place treats their employees. HR are aware of the issues but nothing is done about it. Judging by the other reviews it looks like everyone feels the same! Professional If all of the above and a seriously unhappy workforce is professional then sure Ellisons is definitley professoional.
