Pros
Good benefits due to Shopify (barely makes up for low base pay). Most co-workers are genuinely kind and helpful.
Cons
Low base pay. Not sure why so many talented and hard-working people are still here post-buyout. Unclear vacation guidance. Hard to comfortably take time off in the support organization. Has become a sales/business heavy culture. Too much applause for people who don’t actually contribute to the product. Worst of both worlds meaning that you get the expectation of hard work that comes with a start-up but low-upside now that it’s been bought out (and the corporate pay suppression that goes along with that). There is no point in being humble at this company - you will be taken advantage of and worked to death while your less modest coworkers move up. This is not the way it should be at a place that values being “scrappy.” Definitely sacrificing culture for scale.
