83bar Response
6yThis former employee has made some strong, yet completely untrue statements in their review which I believe need to be addressed.
I'm happy to hear that the former employee enjoyed his/her colleagues and flexible time. I'm proud of our entire team and the culture we have worked hard to build. We offer flexible time to all employees because we believe it allows staff to balance outside commitments, while ensuring business priorities are maintained.
As for the cons, I'd like to address them individually:
1. "Leadership" is laughable
The former employee is certainly entitled to his/her opinion. Our very low turnover rate, strong employee engagement and above-average tenure suggests this view isn't shared with the rest of our employees.
2. Growth is minimal at best
Our revenue growth has doubled for each of the past two years and we have grown our team to help manage this growth. This has offered existing employee's the opportunity for advancement and additional learning/development for new employees.
3. Employee expectations are rarely clear
This point can be taken a number of different ways. 83bar practices a self-driven management style where innovative and driven individuals thrive. Line managers are in constant communication with employees about current activities, priorities and requirements. Those seeking a more traditional management style, where employees are micro-managed, may do better elsewhere.
4. ZERO transparency from top level management
Our management team is very transparent with financial performance, growth opportunities and the general state of our business. We hold regular company meetings to update employees as well as regular social events to ensure staff have an opportunity to meet and chat outside of work.
5. Pay is atrocious
We constantly benchmark our pay structure against comparable roles where our staff are located. We offer highly competitive renumeration packages to all staff and our low turnover is a result of these efforts.
6. Management rarely speaks the truth
As previously stated, we are highly transparent with all employees across a range of business activities. Our flat management structure allows for open communication channels between our leadership team, management team and employees.
As the CEO of 83bar, I am proud of our creative, solution-oriented, dynamic environment. While our turnover remains very low, occasionally we need to separate with an employee who would be better suited in a different environment. We always go to great lengths to make it work, but sometimes it's better for both parties to move on.
We are hiring. Come and join us.
