Pros

Working with FFSC co-workers that are compassionate, hard-working, knowledgeable and professional. Working with service members and their families.

Cons

Where do I start? From Day 1, AFSC has had a PR problem. There is a definite take it or leave it attitude. Offered a bonus ... bonuses are for performance. How can you offer a bonus on future performance? The bonus letter stated that employees were to provide AFSC a 30 day notice if they left the company. Who can give a 30 day notice? Policies are sent out and 2-4 days later there is a new e-mail indicating that the policy has changed. Or, they send out a correction e-mail stating the original policy was incorrect. AFSC has no knowledge about FFSC programs and services and no idea about the Navy. The supervisors are no longer able to interview potential employees. All interviews are conducted by the OPM, who is nice but overwhelmed and new to contracting and FFSC. He joined in October when the contract was awarded to AFSC. He doesn't know what he doesn't know. All potential employees only get a 10 minute Meet and Greet with their new supervisor and Contract Site Lead. How can the supervisors create a cohesive and effective team when they meet employees for only 10 minutes and have no right of refusal? The newest employees, if they will even accept an interview and the pitiful salary, are sub-par. They have no relevant experience and very little in the way of education. They are merely a warm body and a way to show the Government that AFSC can fill its open positions. On AFSC's website, they indicate they have been in business for 100+ years providing service members and their families services; this is pure fantasy. They have only been in the contracting arena for 10-15 years. It is consistent fabrication of the truth by AFSC. The employees that have double digits worth of experience with FFSC(s) are leaving in droves. It is truly sad how AFSC has ruined excellent programs and services. Word of advice ... Run as fast as you can from AFSC. They don't care about their employees or for the service members or their families that they are supposedly here to support. All the CEO did when he was in town was name drop ... who cares who he knows. He came from the Red Cross ... didn't they have a lot of organizational problems?

Pros

This company was the new DoD contractor after 30 something years with another company and while others met AFSC with resistance, this company took excellent care of me when a totally unexpected situation came up and I had to take an extended leave of absence. They were very compassionate, transparent and supportive throughout the whole situation.

Cons

They didn't pay as much as the previous contractor, but such is the nature of DoD contracts. I was glad to have a job.
