Pros

Purpose, Project Esperanza which is an annual mission trip to Guatemala to help the less fortunate and build their villages. Pay used to be competitive, but after 5 years, I hardly saw a raise but was expected to do more. Individual contributors are the heart and soul of the company and some of the finest working people I've ever worked with. The office locations in San Diego and Dallas are both amazing locations with great amenities. Top of the line for sure.

Cons

This is where things will become real. This company is not the same after Susan leaving and Cary Grace taking over. I'm not blaming Cary, but it's just not the same, with lots of blame to go around. Being a leader, I interacted with IT daily. The majority of folks are good people, but there are so many senior directors and above that ooze toxicity. When I started as one of the first remote workers in early 2019, the company had unity and the culture was very tight. During COVID, the pandemic created a huge boom for our bottom line and there was a sense of pride working there. We hired so many new people to keep up with the demand, it felt like we were growing and going to the moon. We brought in so many outsiders, with very little specific industry experience. I saw it first hand, anyone with a degree would be hired, regardless of your experience. My boss, is/was a perfect example of narcissistic and a flat out bully. Unwilling to listen, blame everyone but himself, very little practical experience, and sadly, no vision. Senior leader are so concerned about quarterly deliverables, that they have no strategic long term vision. At least the ones I had to deal with. There are also backdoor deals, with questionable partners located overseas. It smelled like fraud and probably is. I was also told by my boss, who is still there and now a VP, there are no career progression paths, that my best option is to leave the organization. Karma will pay you back as the energies of the universe always balance out.

Pros

AMN Healthcare is a company with a clear purpose and a strong emphasis on people, development, and collaboration. There’s a genuine effort to create an inclusive and supportive culture, and you’ll find a lot of passionate individuals who care about the work and the impact it has on healthcare communities. Strong mission and purpose — Work feels meaningful, especially knowing it contributes to healthcare outcomes Investment in development — Opportunities for learning, mentorship, and career growth are visible and encouraged Collaborative culture — Many teams are supportive and willing to partner across functions AMN Healthcare is a strong place to grow your career if you value purpose-driven work and development opportunities. The biggest opportunity lies in simplifying how work gets done and ensuring consistent experiences across teams.

Cons

That said, like many large and evolving organizations, there can be challenges around alignment, prioritization, and navigating complexity across teams. The experience can vary significantly depending on your role, leader, and part of the business. Organizational complexity — Navigating systems, processes, and cross-functional work can sometimes feel heavy or unclear Inconsistent experiences across teams — Culture and execution can vary depending on leadership and business unit
