Pros

Union. Corporate policies rather than local management whims influencing employee experience. Good equipment. Resources that simply are not available to employees of small ambulance services.

Cons

Expect hold over every shift. You will burn out! Plan for it. Management will get rid of you before addressing your mental health issues. (Therapy is expensive while new employees are cheap).

Pros

AMR San Mateo is making huge strides in changing the Old Boy culture of EMS. The operation is collaborative, cares for its employees, and acts with accountability.

Cons

Although it's much better than it was, AMR San Mateo still deals with staffing issues, primarily for medics, and forced mandation is still in play.
