Pros

Lots of great EMS talent, many great employees that all truly care about patients and providing care to those in need. Many people here don't care about working the fire dept side of EMS and that is the only reason why AMR has talented paramedics and EMT's. Depending on the area, you could run some pretty great calls with some pretty great people. Good place for learning, but definitely NOT a career company.

Cons

Long hours, consistently held over scheduled shift hours due to lack of resources, poor management with even poorer leadership skills. Management utilizes "mandatory shifts" (which means you're required to work a shift and will get written up if you refuse) as a form of staffing so be prepared to work upwards to 4000 hours per year depending on where you're working. Insanely low pay results in immature and inexperienced people that cause problems, similar to the high school job at Zumies that we all had. Not uncommon to see some employees routinely make fire able offenses and continue to have jobs, while others are constantly under the scrutiny of management. Human Resources is a joke at best. Spends more time creating conflict than resolving it. Tends to eye roll and talk aggressively during meetings which is a little unprofessional for a Human Resources employee. Too much turnover with employees and management. Makes it confusing when you have an issue and need someone to go to with it. The list goes on and on with the cons unfortunately....

Pros

Career growth opportunities, supportive coworkers, opportunities to learn and develop, ability to advance if you stay engaged and work hard

Cons

Healthcare/EMS can be demanding, long hours at times, stressful days, and workload can be heavy depending on staffing and operations. These things aren’t specific to AMR, that’s our industry in general.

Pros

As we continue to strengthen our culture, our Core Behaviors remain the foundation for how we lead, engage, and deliver results across our teams. These behaviors are not just guiding principles—they define the expectations for how we interact with each other, our patients, and our communities every day. At their core, these behaviors drive consistency and alignment across the organization. By prioritizing care, encouraging open communication, seeking to understand, collaborating on solutions, and holding ourselves accountable, we create an environment grounded in trust, respect, and shared responsibility. I am proud to be part of a great organization that exemplifies the core behaviors.

Cons

Success of the Core Behaviors depends on consistent leadership, clear application, and sustained reinforcement over time. This is a challenge that will take time.
