Pros

The company hosts a fair number of social events, the office environment is not overly formal, and the dress code is relaxed.

Cons

Unfortunately, my experience at this company is overwhelmingly negative, and I would advise prospective employees to carefully consider all aspects before joining. While I recognise that one-star reviews may occasionally appear exaggerated on Glassdoor, I urge you to pay attention to the recurring themes present in the feedback for this company. Additionally, I advise approaching five-star reviews with a sense of caution and scepticism. From the onset, there were discrepancies in the information provided during the interview process, particularly regarding job details. This has not been an isolated incident; I am aware of similar experiences from other candidates. The workplace environment at AMS is marked by an unprecedented level of hostility and unprofessional behaviour which I have never encountered before. I have not worked with a large quantity of different employers, but I have never known a workplace environment like this. Incidents of inappropriate conduct and verbal aggression including the senior leadership team swearing at employees, are ignored even in the presence of HR. This creates a culture where such behaviour is normalised and goes unaddressed. Some very ignorant and offensive things were said to me and before I had the chance to formally address what was said, the senior team made false claims against me; I believe to keep me quiet. The gaslighting I have experienced whilst working at AMS has been nothing I have ever seen before. The company tends to hire a young workforce, which enables them to offer lower salaries compared to industry standards. Employees are frequently given responsibilities beyond their pay grade and are often unaware of how much better their prospects could be elsewhere. The salaries are low when compared to both larger and smaller firms. Additionally, there are certain practices within the company that, while not necessarily illegal, raise ethical concerns. For instance, candidates' CVs are openly shared among team members, serving no purpose other than to fuel unprofessional discussions about applicants' information. This practice can significantly impact team dynamics and the onboarding experience for new employees. Moreover, I would question the legitimacy of some of the more favourable reviews. Discussions around Glassdoor reviews are a frequent topic within the office, and the senior leadership team actively try to identify authorship of the reviews. This raises concerns about the confidentiality and authenticity of these reviews, especially in such a small office setting. I believe some people would be asked to write reviews, so how anonymous can they be? Staff turnover is partly due to voluntary resignations and partly due to dismissals. I am aware of an instance where a new hire was terminated within their first week, which reflects a lack of effective recruitment and onboarding processes. Overall, I would not recommend this company to potential job seekers, especially those looking for a supportive and professional work environment.

Pros

I'm fortunate enough to work across much of the group and am able to work alongside and collaborate with the many amazing people employed at AMS. People are enthusiastic about their roles and enjoy helping AMS Group strive towards it's high growth goals. You will love AMS if you are a team player, are creative and enjoy a challenge. The remuneration is good. The culture is good. The HR team are really friendly and supportive.

Cons

The open plan layout at head office can be noisy and there are only a limited meeting rooms.

Pros

Nothing good to say about this place. I tried to be fair but anything positive is massively outweighed by the negatives. It’s genuinely not worth it.

Cons

Incredibly toxic culture and very uncomfortable to be around. It is really bad. This place seems to be genuinely falling apart behind the scenes. Progression seems to depend on relationships rather than performance. Given way too much responsibility way above your pay grade, you will receive no recognition for it. Work life balance is completely non existent. Overworked and undervalued. Management behaviour can be very strange, and at times, concerning (if only I could go into detail here). I would recommend never to work here. from my experience, the positive reviews don't reflect the day to day reality for many employees. This is a heavily filtered list of cons, the reality is far worse. The culture often feels toxic, unkind and cliquey, where employees feel talked about and laughed at rather than supported. If you want to feel comfortable and respected at work, and not feel anxious for simply coming in to work and doing your job, I would strongly advise looking elsewhere, and stay far far away. Nothing will improve here until the people causing the problems take accountability. The problem is not hard to find.
