Pros

Some excellent colleagues that really do deserve better than ASDA. Also some that don't. I can see how the 10% discount on groceries can help out a family being paid minimum wage.

Cons

All the huddles, magazines and fancy noticeboards in the world cannot hide that ASDA pays as little as it can get away with. All its competitors pay more, some quite significantly yet ASDA continues to under perform financially - and its a downward trend. Any correlation? Behind the cheery family facade there is low morale. To make a decent wage significantly more hours than contracted need to be worked. This is what ASDA rely on, people desperate for more hours that say yes at the expense of their work life balance. The work culture dictates that if you say no sometimes then other requests may be viewed unfavourably. Take that as you will. Poor holiday entitlement, no opportunity for rostered weekends off. Would a shift system really be that difficult? Lots of staff on different contracts doing same job. The cynical side of me thinks the only reason they give 10% discount is because ASDA want the money back they begrudgingly paid you in wages.
