Pros

Learned how to multi-task because every person has an excessive amount of responsibilities.

Cons

Lack of diversity in the upper level positions, the only diversity represented by the grossly underpaid hispanic seamstresses. Very cliquey with a sorority mean girl type of work environment. No benefits or salaried positions available, no matter how long a person works there. All employees are considered "independent contractors" even though they work full time as regular employees, obvious that the company didn't want to have to pay employee taxes, offer benefits or salaried positions. Extremely disorganized company along with a terribly disorganized work environment due to excessive amounts of clothing that never sold or was sent back due to bad construction. For a company that promotes ethical fashion, it is a complete facade.

Pros

I found this to be an amazing experience. While any internship requires menial tasks, they also gave you the opportunity to grow if you did the small jobs well and with a good attitude. They also don't ask anything of you that they wouldn't and don't do themselves. I hope I get hired here someday! Such a fun and free work environment!

Cons

It is a small company so there are times where you have to be a self starter and know what to do because Abi and the other leaders might be at events and fittings at the same time. They do have a great training so when that happens I just figured out to go through the list and look for things to do as there is always something!

Pros

Very challenging, but fun. The apparel industry is not an easy business, lots of hours and hard work, people think working in apparel design, production, development is glamorous, well it is not you have to be willing to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty. You are expected to wear multiple hats at one time, but that is what makes it fun you are not bored as you are not doing the same thing day in day out. That is how working at Abi Ferrin was for me. I actually lost weight while working at Abi from all the walking up and down the stairs, carrying clothes, putting clothes on racks, picking up clothes from contractors etc.... LOL

Cons

Unfortunately had to move on as there were no benefits included. When you have a family who depends on you that is something to considered even if you love what you are doing. That is the downside of working for very small companies.
