Pros
Achievement First asks for and implements feedback. Over the years I've seen many improvements in multiple areas because of this. When you stay at an organization for several years you can see this progress over time. Not all organizations consider feedback and make incremental changes, especially when they are large. While there were times I wished those changes came sooner, they did come. Achievement First has some of the best people who are there for you and stretch you to be better. The curriculum resources have come a long way and are strong to solid, which means teachers and leaders can make them better during IPP rather than writing them from scratch. This was a game changer and a smart investment. There are many systems at AF that help to support teacher and leader time where it matters most. For example, IPP and Looking at Student work protocols and training helped put attention to instruction in a more meaningful way. Not all schools or organizations have systems like that. I am a better leader, teacher and person because I was part of AF. They continue to be my team and family.
Cons
Leader coaching could be more consistent and differentiated to ensure that each leader can flourish as much as possible. There have been improvements in this area and I am confident that things will continue to improve.
