Pros
The pay was great and the curriculum was fantastic! Ada is very good at actually preparing students for the tech industry. Most of the people that work there also really care about the mission and embody the values!
Cons
The org does align itself with some gross tech industry practices (Amazon is a huge partner so it’s not very surprising). Leadership was very disorganized and not very good at actually listening to their employees or students. I was very overworked, and the dense, fast-paced curriculum demanded students dedicate almost all of their time to the program (I had students telling me they were struggling to spend time with their families or sleep). The student contract threatened a $50,000-60,000 fine if students were to drop from the program. All of the employees who weren’t a part of the executive team were really fantastic, but leadership made it difficult to actually vouch for the program. HR at the org is also very focused on protecting the org and not the employees. I don’t regret my time at Ada, but I am thankful I no longer work there.
