Pros

Remote work Choose which shifts you want

Cons

Almost entirely evening and weekends. Supervisors expect you to work way beyond your minimum wage pay grade. At first I thought they were joking, but over time I realized they are extremely out of touch. You get screamed at, belittled and fully verbally abused every single shift, with no exception. Phone scams are so prevalent that it’s very difficult to convince people that you are not being malicious. Scripts are to be followed verbatim, and sometimes they are really poorly worded and long winded, which causes you to get yelled at more. Your call coding times are tracked to the millisecond and you get automated feedback each week telling you how to improve, even when your numbers are literally below one second. The system glitches frequently and you lose the pay for the time it does, and they will never admit to it being an issue on their end. Sometimes it will happen while you are on a call with a person and it puts you in an uncomfortable spot. You feel like you are wasting everyone’s time for every call. Including your own. There is no reward of a job well done, you just feel grateful to have survived the shift. Also- Privacy manager/fax machine sound will split your eardrums.

Pros

Flexible hours, can work from anywhere, low barrier to entry.

Cons

For the truly desperate or those who enjoy being abused or the recipient of various political grievances, but not bad if you're in a bind or looking to make a little extra.
