Pros
- Aible is everything a fast-moving startup should be, the workload can be heavy, but everyone looks out for each other and there is no stigma associated with raising your hand and saying you are at your limit - The management team openly talks about hitting their own limits to encourage others to be conscious of their mental health, and they encourage people take time to recover when they have been pushing hard - Everyone has a voice, in the early days the company was completely flat, and everyone contributed equally, even though the company has grown communication is still very open - It is common at Aible for an employee to throw a meeting on the CEO’s calendar to discuss ideas, even more amazing is that many of those ideas become strategic initiatives, in our most recent hackathon elements of nearly every concept made it into our upcoming release - Performance is recognized and rewarded, seniority doesn’t seem to matter much it is really about what you contribute in both ideas and effort - The vision is incredible, in a space with thousands of AI startups and some of the biggest names in tech, we still manage to stand out and it is rewarding when we are able to solve challenges that our customers have been struggling with for years
Cons
- There are easier ways to make a living than startup life, things move quickly, and you never want to let down the team by being the one who fell behind, which can be stressful - The open communication can be empowering, but some people do get intimidated being expected to contribute ideas in meetings with senior executives - Not everyone makes it, this is the highest performing team I have ever been a part of, but expectations are high so not everyone makes it long term, it is the kind of place where you will quickly realize it isn’t a fit and start looking for a new job, or you will never want to leave
