Pros

Aila has been a great company to work for and grow one’s career. There are many opportunities to develop new skills and get a well-rounded work experience provided the individual shows initiative. You will have a lot of insight into the inner workings of a company, as well as the ability to voice your opinion and have it heard. The company culture is very inclusive, and the executive team encourages growth, both personally and professionally. Very helpful, supportive, and fun co-workers.

Cons

This place is not for those who enjoy working in a large-company-like set up, where you are provided a fixed structured environment to execute within and where you are not able to always excel based on what you put in. Like with all startups, you may be asked to go beyond your designated role and keep evolving with limited mentorship/resources.

Pros

Great colleagues and culture. Lots of opportunities to learn and grow and supportive management. Good pay and health benefits. Generous time off with unlimited PTO and a minimum of 15 -days required per year.

Cons

It’s a small company, a dept might only be 1-3 people so we all help out and have a lot of cross-functionality in our jobs. It’s not an ideal place for people who want well established processes and procedures. It’s fantastic for people who love to solve problems and create processes/procedures to solve them.

Pros

Coming to Aila has given me a space to learn and grow more than any other place I've been. I have constant opportunities to help shape nearly every aspect of our products. Because autonomy is so core to Aila, I've always felt I can make a difference, even as we've grown larger. There’s also a very fun and friendly culture within the organization. Even just receiving hellos and good mornings from everyone is simple, yet leaves a positive impact. Aila also knows how to keep things lively with games, outings, and team fun if we’re off-site at an event. It's a great way to celebrate with your peers and builds an even stronger foundation. Aside from impact and culture, they are very accommodating to your schedule and needs. They have embraced the “work is not a place you go, it’s a thing you do” mantra. This is very helpful as your own personal journey changes. Finally, leadership wants you to be successful. Whether this is helping with a starting point, asking you a question to challenge your position, or celebrating your own success; the leadership in the company in many ways also is a mentorship. This is invaluable and not found at every company, especially at the leadership level.

Cons

As with any small company you ride the successes and challenges with your peers. While I fully understand work/life balance, in a crunch, not everyone embraces the entrepreneurial spirit. Even with a smaller organization, there’s room for communication improvement amongst cross-functional teams and even within the same team.
