Slow growth at a small business (not a Startup) - Director AirFind Employee Review

Pros

Small company, good onshore office locations

Cons

This is not a start up, that is, the profits are not reinvested in growth which seem to be stalling after 4 years. Boasting of never needing to raise money, since the company has a near agency model with only a couple of major clients without any product defensibility/IP, it’s quite probable that they wouldn’t be able to even if they wanted to, at least not at a valuation that is any multiple of the revenue since the top line rev is shared, with Airfind having a small percent of it. Other cultural issues like lack of transparency and shared vision further plague the company to the extent that its linear growth has finally stalled and employee retention, especially middle management is a concern. Most of the development and operation is handled by offshore contractors or junior onshore employees that the company cycles through every so often. Join if you have just out of college and wants to get your hand dirty with some publisher tools or need something for the time being and are ok with low salary, little benefits and 24x7 slack support.

Thanks for your feedback. Building a company takes countless hours of hard work by team members that have a common goal. We pride ourselves on the services we provide our customers and the partnerships we have built in order to achieve mutual long term success. We appreciate the hard work and efforts that every Airfind member puts in everyday to help us achieve this success. I’m sorry you felt the lack of reinvestment and transparency. As a self-funded business, we rely on profits to drive our growth, and since we began operating four years ago, have consistently reinvested those profits into people and technology. This is a different model from many other companies in the tech space. It keeps us focused on where we spend our capital and our time and puts a premium on being nimble. We move in an incredibly fast paced environment that requires us to make quick and fast decisions. We do our best to operate in this environment while managing growth and creating long term career opportunities for our team members. Not everyone is suited for this environment, and we at Airfind expect our leaders to lead. We wish you the best in your next venture.

Pros

- Communication from execs and managers is top-notch - Great work/life balance - Very compassionate colleagues who are always there for you - Professional and very calm direction from execs when problems happen, almost 3 years after working here I have never felt under pressure as a developer. Things are always taken care of in a calm way by management and transformed into action items for the team.

Cons

Not very many cons that I can think of. If you're not based in the US make sure remote work fits your lifestyle.
