Pros
Less risk of layoffs versus private sector (but mass layoffs still happen). Main reason to work here.
Cons
-Company went downhill with current executives -No raises past 5 years, max 5% 2023, can't keep up with inflation. -Nepotism. some promoted from junior to manager with no competitive process. Diversity hires/promotions over qualifications (HR pushing this very hard). HR is only women (except recent outside VP), men not welcome, quickly fired. Technical jobs mostly male, women wanted, more in leadership. If you didnt get job you interviewed for, look up who did and compare qualifications, you may have a case. -Bad managers everywhere. Avoid any who don't have graduate degrees, all of them are nepotism promotions. Others vary. -WFH down from 5 (COVID) - 4 - 2 days in the last half year. Expect further reduction based on CEO attitude. -Loss of 'flexible workspace' for whole company because bad leaders dont discipline bad employees individually -Leadership surveys used to identify critical opinions instead of fixing poor leadership, get talked down to if your group average is low
