Pros
For the most part, employees with degrees in the field are competent and find enjoyment in work. Good camaraderie in shift groups in each department
Cons
All fun promotional material and shows of happy staff are usually all upper and office staff because the manufacturers are miserable. Management doesn't value manufacturing employees, PMs poorly manage lots, and errors on the production floor and miscommunication between shifts leads to list product and time. Upper management often showcases the very I'll people, often children, who will be helped by the work (while workers are not valued), but it often comes off as guilt-tripping, like it's your fault when this kid dies because you delayed production. I worked at the beginning of the pandemic, my hours were changed and overtime became necessary with compensation not enough for the stress of the job. According to current employees, it got much worse under new management.
