Pros

I’m struggling to think of anything positive to say.

Cons

Quite a few of the managers/team leaders have poor leadership skills at best. More needs to be done to protect employees from workplace bullying. A few of the managers/team leaders demonstrate inappropriate and unpleasant behaviour and not enough is done to address this to ensure it doesn’t continue. Employees are made to feel undervalued, as well as being underpaid. Often hard work goes unnoticed but any mistakes are heavily penalised.

Thank you for your comments. We are genuinely surprised and concerned to learn that you feel this way, especially as we have never had this particular feedback in any of the exit interviews we have conducted. No business is ever perfect, but we genuinely listen to and care about what our colleagues say, whether that’s in our regular employee surveys, through our AlphaPeople forum, or via any other channel. Where we believe that criticism is well-founded , we will do everything we can to address it, as it is in everyone’s interests to work in a happy and productive team. For example, we have schemes in place to reward people for making cost-saving suggestions and for nominating colleagues for our quarterly CARE awards, which recognise and reward employees for demonstrating our key values. We actively encourage colleagues to speak up if they are unhappy in their role, and have a number of measures in place to help with such situations. But we also understand that not everyone feels comfortable speaking to their line manager about any issues they may have, and have therefore invested in an independent and confidential Employee Assistance Programme. We also have a number of trained Mental Health First Aiders who work across the company. We have some very experienced and excellent managers within the business, but we recognise that there is always room for improvement! We have therefore been running a leadership and management development programme, which many of the managers have participated in, as well as a First Line Manager programme to equip new and potential managers with the skills they need to be effective leaders. We also offer tailored coaching for managers where specific needs arise. Last year, all managers participated in Diversity, Equality & Inclusion training, which included anti-bullying training. And as a result of upcoming changes in employment law, further training on sexual harassment will shortly be provided to all employees. We carry out salary benchmarking exercises on a regular basis to ensure our employees are paid the market rate for their role, and all salaries are reviewed at least annually. Our latest employee survey indicated that the vast majority of staff felt that their salary was at or above market rate. We also believe that we offer a comprehensive range of additional and attractive benefits as part of the overall remuneration package. Having said all that, we appreciate that there isn’t always a good cultural fit between employee and employer, so we wish you all the very best and hope that you are much happier in your new role.

Unfortunately, we believe this person is exploiting the anonymity afforded by Glassdoor to create mischief, as the allegations levied are completely false and tantamount to libel. As such, we are not going to dignify such ludicrous accusations with any further comment.

Pros

Friendly coworkers and management Free coffee machine Able to work from home 3 days per week post-training Quick to get the hang of things I had to leave my position to attend university, and management was supportive of this; a coworker even assisted me with my application!

Cons

No cons that could be avoided, the only frustrations came from difficult customers and supply chain issues out of our control.
