Pros

I agree with many of the pros already mentioned in the reviews below. If you’re willing to learn, work hard and take ownership of your projects, you’ll have a great experience at AltAssets. I began as an intern, working my way up to Client Relationship Manager. Yes, it was challenging at first. There’s little formal training. But you’re expected to drive your own learning and take ownership of the projects you handle. You have a wide range of resources around you – a knowledgeable, friendly team and experienced leadership. The autonomy also makes it more enjoyable – you solve problems, come up with new ideas and ultimately, see the impact you’re having on your area of the business. It’s also a very meritocratic environment. The leadership team prides itself on recognizing people who are performing well and rewarding them. The team is also great! Young, fun and sociable.

Cons

Don’t think you can get away with doing nothing or palm your work off onto others. This isn’t a corporate! It’s a small company, everyone is expected to contribute and take responsibility for their projects. When I left, the majority of our team had this mentality and we achieved a lot together.

Pros

I've been with AltAssets for several years now, and have repeatedly seen first hand how dedicated, smart individuals have quickly been handed more responsibility and given room to express themselves - and their talents - for the good of the business. The team's small, close-knit and the atmosphere in the office is friendly and warm - in our previous office space the teams have been much more spread out and isolated, but coming to WeWork has provided a much better-defined work area and I feel communications between teams is much stronger for it. The CEO has a strong interest in all aspects of the business and is very approachable regarding new ideas and strategies, but in my experience has been happy to show respect to talented individuals and leave them to push forward plans and day-to-day work without constant interference. Also: -Centrally located office right next to Moorgate tube -Free breakfast on Monday as well as tea, coffee and biscuits throughout the week -Free beer on tap in the afternoons -Lunch provided by the CEO every Friday for a full-team catchup and ideas meeting -Plenty of post-work socialising between team members

Cons

Hard workers and those making genuine efforts to understand the business and progress it have prospered (and many are still here to prove it) - but as a small business there's no room for coasting along or doing the bare minimum. We still see some turnover in staff, but usually it's because they've been given a great grounding and gained enough experience to find a more senior role elsewhere, or because it's quickly become apparent they're just looking for a comfy, 9-5 job and don't really have the enthusiasm and drive needed to grow the business.
