Shady Company - Sales Agent American National Insurance Employee Review

Pros

Potential to make money if you break the law and lie

Cons

Super shady practices. Leonard Sampson of the Chattanooga office teaches agents to lie to customers to get them to sign policies. They think they're signing 20k+ policies, while they're actually buying 2-3k worth of coverage. Sampson also encouraged agents and managers to do premiums loans on default accounts without customers knowing in order to secure management's bonuses and to prevent lapses on policies he sold to less-than-dependable customers. When this is questioned, it's met with a "Oh, we'll look into it" from district by Pam Abston with zero resolution. Numerous agents have filed complaints with the Insurance Commissioners of Tennessee and Alabama.

Pros

The company offers valuable insurance education opportunities and a tuition reimbursement program that supports professional development.

Cons

There is little incentive for long-term loyalty. Compensation appears to be based on legacy pay structures, resulting in new hires sometimes receiving higher starting salaries than long-tenured employees with extensive institutional knowledge and expertise in company processes.
