Skilled project managers hindered by upper management's confusion - Software Developer Amla Commerce Employee Review

Pros

Project managers know what they're doing and champion work. Working on an internal knowledgebase.

Cons

Shareholders and upper management have no concept of providing consistent expectations. Codebase is a mess with no prioritization of tackling tech debt. New versions of products don't address any code smells, anti patterns, known issues, or tech debt - just slap a few extra features on it and charge customers for the upgrade. Also waaaaay too enthusiastic about slapping AI on everything with no clear direction.

Pros

The leadership team is genuinely supportive and provides clear vision and direction. Lots of amazing people. I built excellent working relationships across departments, and the collaborative culture made managing projects easier. Their software is really good and keeps getting better. Company appreciates innovation. Great long term career possibility. The company is clearly growing and provides chances to professionally grow and actually provides real advancement opportunities. They have a strong track record of promoting from within, so there's a clear career path if you perform well. The company culture values teamwork and professional development.

Cons

There can be some growing pains with processes still being refined.

Pros

Leadership is amazing. I've never worked for a CEO and leadership team that are so passionate about what they do - it brings an energy to the office that makes you want to work hard. There's a clear direction for the company and full transparency into company performance. Team members are collaborative and smart - a lot of bright people to learn from. Products are world-class and the industry is fast-paced and competitive which means the company (and employees) have hustle.

Cons

There isn't a formalized orientation or training program. You'll learn quickly because everyone is willing to teach and answer questions - it just makes getting over the learning curve a bit less efficient.
