Pros
A great organisation with a proud history of standing up for human rights, even in the most troubled times. Acts without fear or favour and holds fast to its mission and vision. The opportunities for individuals get a wide variety of experience and exposure is unparalleled, but you have to take the initiative because it is not handed to you on a plate.
Cons
It's a complex international organisation which sometimes pays more attention to its internal workings than its external impact. There's preference for consensus on decisions which mean it can take longer than necessary to get things done. There's still a latent distrust of professionalism, performance management and being held to account, which can be frustrating.
