Pros

Very caring and supportive team — colleagues genuinely look out for one another and always put residents first. Lovely residents with a wide range of personalities and stories; it’s rewarding to make a real difference in their daily lives. Good communication with families and multidisciplinary teams, which helps provide holistic and person-centred care. Opportunities to build strong relationships and develop valuable skills in elderly care, dementia support, and communication. Anchor has clear care standards and procedures that help maintain high-quality care and resident wellbeing.

Cons

Workload can be very heavy, especially during busy periods — it sometimes feels like there aren’t enough staff on shift. Breaks can be difficult to take due to the constant need to attend to residents. Physically and emotionally demanding role — you need real stamina and compassion to thrive here.
