The engineering services Andela provides are not well received outside of San Francisco do to rigid pricing model and narrow scope of technical disciplines. . Company is viewed as a spammer by companies due to the bombardment of emails to the same accounts. Terrible culture - No one is ever in the office and no one enjoys work. Leadership tried to motivate people by having a competition to see who can get the most referrals in two hours.......... Guess what the prize was? A coffee maker toaster combo..... Yes. Sales people prefer coffee maker toasters over making money.. Unexperienced leadership - None of the sales leadership understand engineering teams and believe theres a one size fits all solution to scaling teams. Massive turnover. 3/4 sales directors left in a 1 month span and to replace them, they found people who have no technical understanding experience. COO is the least engaging and least thoughtful leader i've worked under. I believe that is the main issue with the sales organization. After laying off half the AE's a meeting was led where the COO was laughing about the situation. But thats the type of leadership there is at Andela. Quota unobtainable - 3 of 25 AE's hit quota. One very talented AE is making all the money. Everyone else is struggling. Microsoft is moving to compete with Andela in Nigeria.
